A friend gave me this mower today, she told me that it would start but then die right away. Before I even mess with this thing does anyone know anything about these? its a model UT30153. Are parts still available for it? About how old is it? I tried some google searches and came up empty. Is this worth my time?

Still, I wouldn't be able to control myself.
I would clean it up and clean the carb bowl,
just to hear it run. :fing20:

You can get a general idea of how old it is by looking at the numbers on the engine. Well, at least you'll know how old the engine is.

On B&S engines, there's a Model, Type, and Code number on them somewhere. The first two digits of the Code are the year of production.

tdidi, the model of the mower should be HM20P5, by your UT#. i have microfiche breakdown, the rear SP wheels are still available from my Homelite supplier, did you see if Homelite has a website? the last year they were built from my UT crossreference, was 1990. if you take the bowl off the carb, the fuel metering holes or jets, are in the bowl screw,FWIW. bet it dont take much to get 'er going :trink39: Tony

Well I had time to play with this today so before I did anything I tried to start it and it started on the first pull. It ran like a champ and I mowed my lawn for about a half hour when it died, I tried to start it back up and the symptoms she describe appeared. I could get it to run at full choke but not good enough to mow with it. Before I do anymore does anyone have any suggestions?
