Hey Guys,
Just wanted to see if the recent pix I took would post, as the others were too dark (inside the shop) and I deleted them.

Jody, Yes...and it's still giving me fits. I discovered it is probably a closed center valve design, and that's ok, but I still have to compensate flow using the draft on the 3 point to make the FEL work efficiently. Now I know that's not right, but I haven't figured it out yet.
Any suggestions???

OK. Just a couple more. I realize there is no sheet metal but this is your basic skeleton. I hope to have more/better pictures in the near future.

Great pics Mark. :fing32: I'm looking forward to seeing more. What model Yanmar is the one in the pics?

Durwood, It's a 21 HP 1610D 3 cylinder with 605 original hours, really a sweet tractor. Four wheel drive with shuttle shift so that combination makes a great loader tractor. This is one that is probably sold (promised anyway) and I hope the guy changes his mind. That's how much fun I'm having with it. I have a much later model Massey Ferguson 1020 with a FEL. It's a little bit bigger (2WD) that maybe he might be interested in. I just might make him an offer he can't refuse.

Sounds good Mark. Where do you buy your FELs from? Also you need to get these pictures up on the front page here. Somebody else will have to show you how to do that.

Dur - I wish I could brag about how much buying power us big dealers have....but I am really very small, hardly a dealer as I try and build, sell and deliver 10 - 12 (3 cylinder 4X4 tractors) a year. If you buy 6 or more from Koyker, Allied, etc. you get a hefty discount wholesale and freight, but I only buy one or two at a time and it costs me what it costs any average tractor guy.
Paul, I would have to say almost.
Although the FWD assembly is very stout in it's design, the tractors remain emersed in water (rice paddies) for long periods of time. If there are no tubing extentions on the differential vents then (almost always) the tower, cage and wheel bearings are too rusted and replaced....along with all the seals. The beveled gear clusters and axles, however, must be made of Kryptonite....and seldom show any signs of ware. So it was rebuilt.
The hydraulic case was replaced because someone tried to pull the brake drums without removing the snap rings inside the case, resulting in a hairline crack and leak into the enclosed brake assembly. Even though they used generous amounts of JB Weld it was not an acceptable repair.
The engine and transmission, including drive line were....welll, perfect. Even and high compression, spotless tranny and PTO gears - reassembly with new gaskets and seals. Everything to indicate that this tractor had the original 600 hours was confirmed IMHO. Even when I attempted to adjust the intake and exhaust valves, they were dead on @ 006. cold. and the rest is chemical paint strip, acid washed, strightened sheet metal and paint.
Sorry about the lengthy reply.

That sounds like a nice tractor. I know a while back you were looking for a new supplier of tractors. Did you find somebody else yet?

No new supplier. The last gent I used we split a container and now he is a SouthPro (Jinma ?) dealer. He is not a happy camper as the China made tractors just haven't caught on down here. For the price I guess there pretty good, but you gotta wrench often to keep them running right. I really don't know too much about them....except there are alot of people that either love or hate their rig and not much middle ground.

I wonder if Hoye tractor would let you in on who their supplier is? He probably orders a whole lot at one time. Have you ever talked to him about it?

No, Yes and Yes. They offer a very good product at a very reasonable price, with a healthy inventory of parts. And their location is very low overhead....I believe their best advertising really is word of mouth.
There really is just a handful of good, honest grey market dealers in the U.S. that service what they sell, offer a very limited or no warranty - but will fix anything that is not the owners fault, and be available 40 hours a week for cutomer service. And it takes alot of capital to share a 40' container of tractors that are not all Yanmar.
