The Avery 8-15 (not to be confused with B.F. Avery) was a "motor cultivator"; a tractor with a cultvator permenantly mounted below the frame.
The tractor has a 6 cylinder engine 3 years before Genral Motors had a 6 cylinder.

Drawbar (HP): 8
Belt (HP): 15

This was the very first high center tricycle tractors, it was unlike the Universal like: Star, Indiana, Allis Chamlers, and Moline at the time. It was not articulated when turning.

The unfortunate part is that the cultivators were perminate; the stress and torque on the frame cause it to bend with the heavy engine.

This caused problem in Georgetown Texas at the time with the local bankers. This machine that was to replace horses would not last a day out in the field without twisted and breaking. The Banks in Georgetown refused to lend money for tractor in 1918-1920. The banks Taylor 22 miles away would lend money for tractors so the dealers John Deere, IHC, Moline, and Allis Chamlers step up shop there.

The machanic was actually let into the plant, he saw that IHC had short frame, remove the cultivator, raised the seat, the brakes and bull gears had wooden enclosures cover them.

Was it 4 years later IHC introduce the Farmall with the same tricycle wheel pattern and steering but heavier. Did the 1918 Avery 8-15 influence the design?????
