I am thinking about buying this Cletrac HG for $2000
Its 22 hp, its small and I don't know the weight.
Is it worth it?
I have to make my decision by tomorrow.

Wingnut,
If it runs and steers good, definitely.:fing32:
my dad had offers to buy his running HG before he restored for $1000-$1500. It needed engine work, steering work. etc.
They are great little tractors. my mom has since had offers of $3000+/-, but can't part with it or the OC-3 yet even though Dad's been gone almost 3 years.
You can probably find the weight here:

I don't know what the going price is in your area, but that would have been sold to the first person that looked at it for that price up here in Michigan.
.. BUY IT NOW !!!!!

Wing,
It only weighs about 3500. You can handle that. I looked close at the picture and it has a rather scarce option. The tracks have street pads on them. Not many of the Cletracs got those.

Wing,
If You lived in Md., that would be a good deal!! Make sure that the tracks are not wore to bad(pins and rollers).

I would buy it!
Here is my wifes ride at the Central North Dakota Steam Threshers Reunion.
My friend Mark P. Owns it, (along with about 40 other tractors there) and my wife fell in love with it, so he got it running for her! It is a blast to drive!
Does she look happy?

Is it just me or are those tracks on backwards? Shouldn't the cleat be at the front of the track plate on the ground...???

I'll have to be the dissenter here and keep Wing out of trouble, cause he's got too much to do already in restores.
Don't do it Wing ! :D

They have globs of torque...
They will drive over swamps of mud that you can't walk in...
They will pull loads 10 time heaver than the weight of the tractor... Most of the time they start very very easy...

Sounds like it would make a great riding lawn mower for those seasonal troubling times! :thThumbsU

Yes they are.
With the cleat forward when it contacts the ground, the dirt is compressed into the pocket between the cleat and the face of the pad.
With the cleat to the back, it allows the dirt to push up between the pads.
This will only really make a deference when the crawler is under a work load.
Won't really matter for running around shows.

If they are, then they are on backwards on both crawlers posted in this thread. I wouldn't know...

interesting observation on tracks. I paid attention to the crawlers at the Buckley Show today.
4- Oliver crawlers, all have the cleat to the front of the pads.
4-John Deere crawlers. 2-with cleat to the front and 2-with cleat to the back.
1-Case crawler with cleat to the back.
3-Cat crawlers. 1-with cleat to the front and 2-with cleat to the back.
1-Teratrack crawler with the cleat to the back.
Lindeman crawlers have the cleat on the back.
My little Agricat crawler has the cleat to the back. They were at the front when I got it and it was a really bumpy ride because one cleat would pass the center of the wheel before the next cleat touched the ground.
This allowed the wheel to drop down between each two cleats. I turned the tracks so the cleats are to the back and now each cleat touches the ground as it is passing the center of the wheel.
Any manuals that I have read show the cleat to the back of the pad.
So I guess it's up to the owner of that particular crawler.
