anybody else try the microsoft anti-spyware beta? i use it so far its pretty clean.. stays active (unlike spybot)
no problems and its found a lot of stuff
anyone else use it??
I use it, it's free. I'm not too excited about another MS product, purchased from another developer with just the MS name on it, but for now, I run it.
Ad Aware www.lavasoft.com (Download) is "the man". My XP machine was slugish and unstable and after installing and running AA, and removing a bunch of creepies, it's fast and stable again. AA is free.
AVG Anti-Virus, http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php, is great for the virus side.

I use it and i can't believe how powerful it is. And also how fast it works compared to others like it. It picked up that i had kazaa and spyware with it and asked if i wanted to delete it. I said yes thinking that it would remove any spyware that kazza had brought along with it. Well, it removed the whole file of kazaa. Nothing left there at all. And you can't find that version of kazza anymore, so be careful what you ask it to do. :00000060:

I downloaded it and started using it about 2 weeks ago. So far it has not found anything on my system. That's a good thing! :fing25:

chalk one up for microsoft anti spyware software...
i for a message from the beta version of the spyware saying an ip address was trying to update my hosts file.
My hosts file stores all sorts of ips that i connect to for work..
The microsoft message indicated the ip that was trying to add to my host file:
213.159.117.133
Do not go to this IP
like a dummy i went to my internet explorer and entered the IP to see if it was a valid site.. it was not.. it was a seach site and as soon as i entered the site my norton antivirus came popping up with a virus alert..
so Good job so far for microsoft beta version of anyi spyware.. im glad i have it.. as it runs real time unlike spybot Search and destroy..
