I just read a post over at a site I frequent (fivedoves.com) where the lady was saying she made some bread out of rye flower and noticed her B/P go down, gave some to her husband and got the same results then a repeat with friends. Found results would last a couple of days from one day's use. Now, she and her husband are 71 and both have had high B/P. She is delighted and has been able to drop medication for it. If you want to see her comments, scroll down on the doves home page to June.

I went to fivedoves.com. It is quite a Christian site, if I had the correct site. I could find nothing that relates to diet. What topic/heading is it under?

I don;lt know about it lowering blood pressure, but a fresh loaf of dark rye and a tub of real butter can make me happy any day........that in itself is enough to lower my bloodpressure.
Sure do miss living up north when it comes to rye bread and other fresh made in a real brick oven breads......There used to be a bakery there, still is, named the New York Bakery, and their breads of any kind were good enough to kill for. As kids we would drop by that bakery on the way to a foot ball game which by that time of year it was usually pretty darn cool outside at night, pickup a loaf or two of fresh out of the oven unsliced bread, hit the little mom and pop store and get 4 sticks of real butter, and bust one end open on the bread, and shove a stick of butter in the loaf and let it melt. Shove it up under your coat to keep you warm and toasty and head to the football game and munch down on hot fresh buttered bread...........mmmmmmmmmmmmm good!

I just had a rye bread sandwich for lunch today. I never eat white bread anymore, just rye and other whole grain breads. Now that I know I'm making myself healthier by eating this, I'll have that second sandwich more often! ROF

Here is a copy and paste of it. It is the same one i saw on another site. It sure looks worth trying.
"God's Remedy For High Blood Pressure!!!
My husband and I are 71 years old, in good health, take no medications, and going rafting down the river again with family in a few weeks.
Lately, my blood pressure had started to creep up. I did not like the idea of having to go on a medication, so I prayed and ask God to heal whatever was causing the problem. What He did was much more awesome. He showed me the remedy that would not only take care of my situation, but help millions.
My Testamony Follows;
I love to make home baked whole grain breads, but never had made Rye bread simply because I didn't like it.
For some reason, I kept wanting to try a home-made version, and there are many recipes for it. So I picked up a bag of King Arthur whole grain Rye flour at Wal Marts and tried a recipe that had interested me. It was wonderful, so I ate several helpings for dinner. It was delicious.
The following morning I took my B.P. and it was 117/73, much lower than it had been in several months. Since I had enjoyed the Rye bread so much I made toast with it for breakfast, not yet connecting the Rye bread to lowered blood pressure. Being curious about my BP being so low, I took it again at 11:30 am, since generally it goes up during the day.
Guess what???? It was now 116/70. This really got my attention big time. When my husband came home from work, we discussed it and agreed the only thing we had done different was eat Rye bread.
My son came the next day for the weekend. He really had a problem with high BP, so we took his BP then I gave him some Rye bread to eat. His BP went from 199/100 down to 169/88. He was impressed, kept eating Rye bread while here and his BP kept coming down until it was about 127/73. I made 10 mini loaves for him to take home, put in freezer, taking out just what he needed for a day or so. He hasn't taken medication since, as you do not want to take medi to lower your BP when it is around 120/70.
He took two mini loaves with him to work. One for him and one for the other guys at work. Naturally they laughed at the idea but went along with him, took their BP, then ate some of the bread, and took BP again in about 30 to 40 minutes. Sure enough, all had lowered BP except one man who was a chain smoker and drank about 5 pots of coffee per day. They all wanted my recipe! At this point we did not know that any Rye product would do the same thing, whether home-baked or store bought.
Next I emailed this info to family, friends, and all on my email list. I do networking so I have a big list of folks all over the US. I had a lot of feed-back as people tried all kinds of Rye products, including Rye crackers. You guessed it, all Rye products worked to lower BP. So they emailed all their friends and family, who are emailing theirs.
Many people are getting off their BP medi, not on my say so, but because they have discovered for themselves that Rye products works for them. Like I said, people do not need medi when their BP is anywhere from 116/69 to 135/79. As you know a BP too low is just as dangerous as BP too high, if not more so.
The last thing we have discovered is that you do not have to eat Rye bread every day, as BP does not seem to start creeping back up until the third day of not eating it. That may vary according to one's own health. I do not know what it is that makes it work, but I do know for a fact that it works.
After about 4 months I am noticing my skin seems clearer, hmmmm. What a wonderful way to improve overall health. Gerson Cancer Institute recommends eating Rye bread in one of their books. What does that say for Rye bread?
I had prayed and ask God to heal whatever was causing my BP to creep up. I did not want to be on medication. He showed me the remedy that would take care of my situation, and help millions be able to get off BP medication, or never get to that point of needing it. Now........that is totally awesome! "
To your health and happy eating!

I got a good lesson in the medical profession at the doc's last physical...
"Hydro, your cholesterol numbers are too high!"
"Doc, the numbers are lower than last year and you said that was perfect."
"Heh, heh, heh, that was "last year", we lowered the numbers this year since all you patients seemed to be holding on the old numbers... And by the way I want to send in the 'Health Assistant' to sell you some $75 "natural" cholestrol lowering voodoo compounds that your medical plan won't cover."
Numbers shumbers, when they call my name I go, and so does everybody else. No one knows when the bell tolls for whom!
Well, since I have to eat anyway . . . I will get out the BP machine, and do some checking into this. Although I smoke and drink coffee?
