I'm in the market fror a 15 or so gal. 12 volt sprayer for general use trees/yard etc. Will haul it around in my RTV, no wheeles or cart needed!

All Ideas /info appreciated!!

This pic is kinda what I have in mind (but it says no whetable powers can be used ) not what I want and I do need some decent pressure to reach the tops of my walnut trees as "Tent Worm" season is about to dawn!!

Thanks in advance.

Just noticed that jd318_mazz and the good DR have an Agfab sprayer ! can either of you two Gentleman tell me how high can it shoot a stream vertically ? And do you recommend it for my purpose??

My Fimco gas powered sprayer will reach about 30 feet in the air. My Fimco 12 volt will reach about 15 feet in the air. HF has the 12 volt sprayers in their last sale flyer.

Thanks Ron, just what I need to know, 30 feet is needed and I see sprayers with a 1 gal per min to a 1.8 gal at 60psi max!! But no info on vertical distance!! Who is HF?

They have a large selection of sprayers available online. Good luck.

Yes...I was in Tractor Supply the other day looking around and you would be hard pressed to find one that has wheels. Seems every sprayer they had was for an ATV or a pickup bed.

I bought this one from Northern Tool last spring. I used it quite a bit
last year and this spring, spraying hemlocks with oils, veg. killer in driveway
and insecticide around the perimeter of the house and patio. Also use it
for spot spraying weed control on lawn.

As much as I like it for what I need it to do, if you need to spray tress up to
30ft high, this one is NOT THE SPRAYER for you.

Thanks for all the help!
Leave it to me to turn simple into complicated , looks like to get to around 30 feet vertical I'll need a piston pump vs a diaphragm one capable of producing much > than 60 psi which seems to be the limit for most sprayers , so far I have found one (My post #5) and at least double the price!:fing20:

To smart farmer yes still definately in the market , My e-mail is profiled and would you give me some details please, taking into consideration all of the above , thanks to everybody for your time and effort!

ARGEE, TSC has plenty of the one's on wheels here, but outside in the lockup fenced in area, the portable are inside.

The one I have from TSC was a few years ago when they were still putting the demand switch on the 14/15gal models, was $99 on sale, I think it does 18ft straight up and up to 30ft horizontal.

Archdean,
Had a similar problem a couple of years ago..fall webworms in my 50 to 60 feet tall River Birches and no way to reach them with a sprayer. Nothing I tried would shoot a verticle stream that high. I even tried one of the long range water guns they sell in toy stores. My solution was to fasten the nozzel of my pump up sprayer to the end of my leaf blower so that the insecticide was injected into the blower air stream. This allowes me to "mist" or "fog" up through the tree and works great. I use Ortho Systemic insect killer but it also kills on contact. I don't know if a systemic product is appropriate for your walnut trees.

There my favorite allright have always used a 20' foot long aluminium pole with a tee shirt wired on one end soaked in diesel/old oil and burn them out, a bit messy standing underneath them as it rains caterpillars on your head but either the trees have grown , the worms can measure or I'm just too damn short on one end now!!

I like the one tree sprayer I posted above but want to see one work first if I can!! If not that seems to be the best suited for the above purpose!!

I can always put G/F in my loader platform and gain another 12' ROF

Yep, I'm the one he is refering to who gave him the idea on GW a year or so ago when the subject came up. In fact, several guys tried my idea with good results at that time. If you just want to experiment, put some water in a pump up sprayer and stick the wand in the air stream of your leaf blower and give it a try. I had an extra wand from an old sprayer that I just leave on the leaf blower. Now all I have to do is screw the wand on the hose, pump up the sprayer, hang it over my sholder, fire off the leaf blower and away I go.

WE,

Great idea just duplicated it but not seeing the published results that you got, had plenty of pressure in 2 gal sprayer, Echo blower was running well but NOT the same fogging volume as you report, with or without tip!! http://www.mytractorforum.com/images/icons/icon5.gif

Suggestions?

Dean, you got the wrong blower...should have bought a Sthil.. :trink39: Seriously, try adjusting the nozzel for a fine spray so that you don't have big dropplets comming out of the sprayer, and play around with where you inject that into the leaf blower air stream. I usually try to do it on a day with a VERY light wind and stand up-wind, slightly out from under the tree drip line. I can create a fog that goes up through the tree.

Dean..another thought...I think the main thing is that this Ortho product is systemic and is absorbed thru the leaves so even if you don't get enough to kill them on contact (it's also a contact killer), they die as the feed on the vegatation. I've found that one misting a year after the trees leaf out is all it takes to prevent an ugly infestation later on in the summer. In other words, a little of this stuff goes a long way. Again, don't know if the product is appropriate for you walnut trees.

Im confused about the options as well as what the PTO pump looks like...
would like to know the throwing distance....spray gun would be the first choice...I saw the price on your site, not sure what it includes

It has a coupler that will hook to a 6 roller pump to produce the spraying. It comes with a 21' boom and handgun but it can be equipped with more options. if you would like more technical questions please feel free to e-mail me and if I can not help I will let you talk to the manufacture of the machine. I just sold 2 this month and both have wrote me back stating how much they love their new sprayer. the only complaint out of one guy is that he wishes he went to the 110 gallon.
