I had a friend that had a '70's Ford Garden Tractor that ran FOREVER! What was the last year for these smaller Ford tractors?

Well, the last year of the 70's Ford tractors would be 1979. :sidelaugh

As far as the whole line of tractors go, they (actually Toro) still make a New Holland LGT.

The Fords were made by Jacobsen from '65 until '83, then Gilson took over. I prefer the '77-'83 models with side panels, but they were all pretty tough machines.

So if I found a Gilson it would be the same thing correct? I own a '90 Wheelhorse and it is OK, but not the best.

If you found an '84 or later Gilson or Lawnboy rider it would be the same as the Ford. The '83 and older Jacobsens are Ford twins. (Or Ford is the Jake twin, take your pick.)

Does Gilson and Jacobsen still make tractors?

Jacobsen is big in the golf/turf field now (actually they have been for a long time), but nothing for homeowners anymore.

Gilson was bought by Lawnboy who was then bought by Toro.

So when did Gilson leave off and New Holland/Toro take over? And were there any Fords made on the platform shared by New Holland and Ariens, or was it after that?

So when did Gilson leave off and New Holland/Toro take over?In 1998 or so, when Toro bought Lawnboy.

And were there any Fords made on the platform shared by New Holland and Ariens, or was it after that? No, and it's too bad, that's one of my favorite tractors, style-wise.

My cousin has a 1998 Ford Compact Tractor.

What COMPACT Model Numbers did they produce that year?

Actually, Toro bought Lawnboy back in '88, not '98.

1215, 1530, 1630, 1725, 1925. Or something like that. Don't know much about Ford's CUTs, maybe Argee will know more.
