I've been looking on this and a couple of other forums for close to a year now trying to decide on a garden tractor. I still couldn't make up my mind. Well yesterday the guy that did some of the clearing around my house and did my driveway was at my house. He has been cutting my grass since i don't have anything yet.

He made me a offer on his bx2200, said he was going to get a new and bigger tractor so he could use a bigger deck.

It's a 2000 model with 60'' mmm and has 330 hours on it.

looks like its in good shape. It has a crack in the plastic grill in the front and a little dent in the fender. Deck has some scratches on the side where he's mowed a little to close to something. He said since i've given good word of mouth advertising for his landscaping buisness he would give me a good deal. $1900 like it is or $2500 and he'd replace the plastic grill thats cracked. I said I'd take it like it is.

Did I do good or what? :bannana:

Well, sounds like you did real good to me, I checked a couple used BX2200 prices with 60MM mower, one had 138 hours and the other 95, and they both were in the $8500 range :fing32:

Get the FEL as you will find a ton of uses for it. I just bought the BX1500 (like yours except smaller). It is a very nice machine.

NOW THAT'S a STEAL, NOT JUST A DEAL!! Get a brushguard for it too, dealer can order the correct one which is orange and more protective than the one that comes on the backhoe model, dealer cost on it is about $110.

330hrs is nothing on these machines. That is a great deal. For that price, it might be good to take it to a Kubota dealer to look it over once just to make sure the machine has not been neglected abused. I would also NOT have him fix it. You could buys some extra toys for $600. :thThumbsU

I have a 2002 BX 2200 with about the same # of hours. That is a great buy, take it. BUT the fuel tank has had problems with leaks, and the tank fuel gauge has also had problems. It shorts out the clock, so the hours may not be accurate given he is using the machine commercially. Write down the serial number and have Kubota dealer run the number to see if any of the above recalls have been done. That said even if it has 1000 hours for the $ he is offering it is a great buy.

Definitely a great deal. The BX's are designed to run thousands of hrs and everything is rebuildable/repairable. The BX series has been out about 8 yrs or so now and I've only read about one single engine needing to be rebuilt and that was more than likely due to owner abuse. I haven't read of one single HST needing rebuilt or an HST pump failure. As NYYF pointed out theres a few minor repairs that crop up but on the whole the machines are very stout and maintain Kubota's great reputation.
Course I'm biased as I'm in my 3rd trouble free season with a BX23.
As for your BX2200, I'd suspect the hr meter may not be accurate. The BX2200's were replaced by the BX2230's in 2002 I believe and that being the case, the original owner would have had to avg'ed less than 70 hrs a yr. I avg about 100 hrs a yr and I hardly work mine in the winter.
And I agree w/NYYF in that if it had 1000 hrs on it you'd still be getting a great deal :D
