View Full Version : Don't laugh to soon!

Stumpy!!

So having laughed at the thread" What is the stupidest thing..." I decided to go out and mow my near one acre lawn. I have a fairly new LT1000 16.5 HP Craftsman Rider. I had hit a rock a few weeks ago and replaced the blades with new ones from Agri Supply. That is when I saw Ken N Tx post on the Gator blades. I mulch my lawn as well. I decided to try them the next time.

So into grassland I went with my new blades, cuttin' real nice like. I'm a happy guy. I got the lawn 3/4 mowed when I got around the edge of the soon to be pool in the back yard. BANG CRASH BOOM!!!!!!!! And every other bad noise you can think of to go with hitting a big a** rock with a mower! The engine stalled, The rock tumbled out, I had very nice words...........

This is the point when I decided not to read this forum in the morning before doing any yard work! (I have to blame it on something!) I disengaged the mower deck and tried to start the engine. Dead, I must have sheared the flywheel key. Judging by th looks of the rock that came out from under the mower I would also say my new blades are garbage as well.

Unfortunatley I really don't have time to fix it right now so the mowing duty just got handed off to my 2N and the Land Pride 60" finish mower. Talk about using a baseball bat to swat a skeeter!

So that was my day....so where did you say you got those blades ,Ken?

Let's hope it's just a flywheel key and not the crank. I know of a guy that his a survey marker once and broke his crank.

What's an "ory" bar, Jody? Some kind of Cajun whipping stick?

I'd be more interested to know why she had the pry bar in the yard in the first place. :hide:
Next would be why she just left it there? :omg:

I fixed it the O and the P are just to close for my big fingers. :fing20: She and her friend had picked up some old fence and was using the pry bar to take the boards off to use on some decorating crap they seen on Home and Garden channel. And like the wife always does she just leaves thing laying around. And i get to find it the hard way :00000060:

Stumpy, I'll bet that you could have looked and looked for that rock and not seen it. I think that they have the ability to crawl out of the ground! And there is always one more!

Life's frustrating moments. :fing20:

Wife is always "picking up after me"...her quote...I call it "drop and shop"! I drop it and spent half the day shopping for where she put it. Did you know that my cordless drill "belongs" in the cabinet over the stove?????
Reckon the chili powder "belongs" in the barn....

I just spent half the morning cleaning up for the cleaning lady :fing20: . Why? Why does the house have to be straight before the cleaning lady gets there? Isn't that HER job? What the heck am I paying for? :00000060:

I ran over the left front gauge wheel that came off my mower deck last year. It made a very similar crashing sound. Those blades had about 1 month on them, though. It really startled me, though. Just mowing along and WHAM! The bolt broke at the base of the threads. I was even on a straight-away when it happened. Needless to say, I now inspect those wheels prior to every mow. Check the oil, clean the pre-filter, kick the tires, etc... :banghead3
