I didn't know where to put this question, so I put it here. I looked at Google and did not find a specific forum for that. Now I think the high end of that racing is nuts but that is just me. My thought is this site might be a good spot for that part of mowerdom. Any thoughts?

Mike - First let me belatedly welcome you to MTF. Secondly I moved this thread to General Site Info/Site Questions as that is probably the right spot for it.

We are always interested in something new and different but I don't think mower racing is on that list. It's just a passing fancy to most and if it was covered it could probably be put in the Tracor Pulling board as that's a related activity. Jbetts is the mod on that board...you could bounce it off him.

maybe we could change of the name of 'tractor pull forum' to 'Tractor Pulls & Tractor Racing Forum' ?

do you guys think it would be of interest?

id bet jbetts could tweak one of his fleet and rig us up a racing john deere for the forum ROF

The main title of this site is as posted; "MyTractorForum.com - Tractor Discussion Board and Heavy Equipment Information"
And there can be no question that I have been as guilty as straying from that as the next member!! Most members here own lawn mowers/lawn tractors of one size or another!!

Your question is worth consideration and I think there should be but only in the context of getting the most out of 4 cycle engines BS and Kputs as most members seem to be owners of those brands! And at least 5 inquires have been posted this week alone !!

What any of that has to do with "Tractors and Heavy Equipment" is beyond me!! Either a definition name change is in order or a real help forum be established to help those seeking information to diagnose/maintain and get their 4 cycle purring again !! Racing lawnmowers strikes me as, well quite frankly superfluous !! No disrespect intended!

My first encounter with the TF Board was when Andy spun off the YT Board.

In the beginning, there were quite a few tractor people signed up to his board. But due to lack of posts and Andy's questionable leadership, many registered members (including myself) never returned.

During my absence of several years, it appears that the site took a different direction as the GW people registered on TF. It formed into a diverse forum for both tractors and lawn machines.

I for one am hooked on MTF because i have both machines and all the other info and discussions on this Site. A few of the members that i have invited over to this Board have also been hooked on this Site.

My observation of the members of this Site have both tractors and mowers in common. Land and the care of also seem to be a common area.

I have made a few visits to the GW Site over the years, but was never "hooked" on that site because my interests were mainly with the Ford N tractors.

I applaud :congrats: all the people involved in creating and maintaining this Site.

The MTF has numerous sub-forums, if you will, that have nothing directly connected with "Tractor Discussions and Heavy Equipment Information". That's what makes it a fun and diversified place to enjoy and share information of all kinds, but still somehow tied to the "tractor" theme.

I say, check out the interest! It obviously has a following, is televised and looks like fun. :fing02: Maybe post a poll thread and see what happens. If it were combined with the tractor pull forum, it might get that subject talked about more as well.

hi i forgot to explain this..

The reason that is in the title is mainly to boost search engine hits... i agree it is not totally relevant.. but it helps the search engines point to this site...
(or so i am told)

Thanks for clearing that up SJ but my word "This" as I used it above was in re: to the LM racing bit @@!

And was hoping to generate a serious feed for a forum that one could go to with some well documented diagnostic guidelines and things one could do to fix the problem! I see "Help me with my BS and Kaput" engines a lot, scattered all over the board!

There is a lot of common knowledge tips available to the 4 cycle owner and the site has some knowledgeable Pro's and Shadetrees alike to help the non greasy types! Just would be nice to have it more centralized!

Just a thought for your consideration!

I am more into the utility and vintage of tractors, never was into Pulls or Racing those I feel are more recreational activities.

Simple John idea of 'Tractor Pulls & Tractor Racing Forum' would be best place to put them. :fing32:

That's Ok Greg, I tend to think out loud sometimes without turning the switch on!! I have reviewed that forum and I'm sure that's fine as is!

Just like car racing, or tractor pulling, there is more technology and knowlege involved than just the engine.

I think that if there is an interest than it would be worth pursuing. There are lots of tricks to making a successful winning lawn mower racer that goes beyond tuning the engine.

Here's one that might work...if it were manual or I could modify it for foot accelerator.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v165/kgregc/DSC00422.jpg It's a 90's Craftsman with a 15.5hp B & S turbo cool ESL engine...hydro.

I stripped it down in order to rebuild as a "hot rod" tractor...paint, chrome, flames...etc.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v165/kgregc/Beforerearbodyonofstr_.jpg

Body parts and chassis separated and cleaned.

Now if I can just remember where everything went...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v165/kgregc/Rightsideofstrippedtra_.jpg

I could soup-up the engine since it needs rings anyway...hmmmm

If you guys are still looking for Lawn Mower Racing links check out the G-Sources Page at G-Team Racing (http://www.g-team.us/) last count I think I was at about 70 lawn mower racing sites listed there. Most of them here in North America, but there are a few in Great Britain and Australia listed there as well.

Likewise there are a few diverse lawn mower sites like Xtreme Mower Mayhem (http://www.xtrememowermayhem.com/) listed there.... that one was a favorite find!!

Good to see management caved in and allowed the racing forum here. Not meaning to debate your position guys, but Lawn Mower Racing is not a passing fancy, it's THE fastest growing motorsport in the world!

Hi Argee, yeah just getting into it myself, personally I'm a computer geek! The G-Team site link posted is website I built for a gentleman I met through my interest in racing, likewise the pictures are his mower, but everyone loves the Earnheardt paint scheme so I thought I'd share them. In the course of building the website, I was introduced to the MowBetter forum, where they made me an Administrator because of my knowledge of the web. So I'm getting indoctrinated from all angles.

Stumbled across the MyTractor Forum in search string of mower parts and found these guys with what appear to be lots of questions about the sport here, and there aren't too many lawnmower racing sites out there that I haven't found yet in trying to build the links page on G-Team. Likewise, I've gotten to know a considerable number of the guys running in the USLMRA through my association with the site, so I can try and point the guys here to answers, and point the guys there here if anyone is interested in posting mower parts that might be for sale. I have contacts all over the country that would be interest in such.

Very nice forum you have Argee!! I really like this board. Also Administrator on a Web Design Forum and we've been contemplating moving that one to the VBulletin board. I can see why everyone finds it so favorable!!

Having fun wandering around here looking at all the tractors too! Very nice place!!

Say Argee you posted a considerable number of small engine links in another thread here, would you have any further resources stashed away for Briggs motors??

We're searching for a few not so common parts that we're finding hard to come by. Those being a .030 over piston for the 31 CID Briggs, and the ringset that goes with it. Find lots of listings for the piston, but they usually wind up a dead end when we track them down. No one seems to stock the part although they show them in their books.

Hi jodyand...

Click one of those links up there for G-Team and check the photo album, there are about 200 of them there from various races around the country, (best guess, I haven't counted), pretty decent racing shots for the most part.

Also the NDLMRA Schedule link, down under Announcements, there are 150+ of the local racers at Mercer and Flasher ND events this summer.

It's loads of fun! I think we've probably got the largest album of any Lawn Mower Racing website on the net as well. I haven't seen anyone else with that many pictures out there although many of the others, including the USLMRA (http://www.letsmow.com/) do have videos on their sites.
