There is no Simplicity dealer near here but a Snapper dealer told me that the Snapper GT's are made by Simiplicity. Looking at the sites I found that the Snapper GT 23540 is a twin to a Simplicity. It has 23 hp, 54" deck, K-71 Hydro w/A.C.T. & Diff. Lock and 24x12x12 rear tires. Dealer offered it to me for $6200. Anyone familliar with this tractor? Is that a good price?
Thanks,

Simplicity makes clones for Snapper, AGCO and Massey Ferguson. All good machines!

I have the Simplicity 23/54 Prestige. Same as the Snapper, just a different color. These are good GT's although they did have to cram that 54" deck in there. You can remove it but not as easily as the 50" deck. I've had the deck off many times and it now takes me a few minutes. There are a few steps that are not in my manual but they are quite obvious. Have the dealer show you how the deck comes off.
The deck cuts great and we can mow full speed. We got the Prestige a year ago and after 100+ hours, no problems. We really enjoy using it with the deck on or off. The power steering is a real bonus when backing up with a trailer.
Maintenance is a breeze although the filters can be a little tight from the factory. Proper tools is the key.
The lowest priced JD with the same options (P/S, Tilt steering, Diff Lock and 54" deck) I believe is the X534 at MSRP $7999.00. It does have a Kaw 25hp twin, but that's a lot more money.

Thanks for all replies. Of all the new GT's I've seen I have been most impressed with CC 3254 and the Simiplicity Prestige.
fouracres, if you don't mind my asking, how much should I expect to pay for the Prestige clone Snapper?

I would think that this time of year you would expect to pay close to MSRP. Simplicity never seems to have rebates for the Prestige. We paid $6000 a year ago. You should expect to pay over $6000 but you never know. I am sure there are still left over 2005 models in inventory somewhere.
I don't know where you are from but the link below has 23/54's listed for under $6000. They ship but that might eat up your savings.
