Anyone have any experience with these machines? I got a price from a dealer today for $10,800 and I think that may be a bit high for this machine? Any thoughts?

How much HP does it got? Is it a gear or hydro tranny?

15hp kubota diesel, hydrostat tranny and steering. Pretty tough machine and has gotten great reviews. MY uncle likes his, but doesn't remember what he paid for his.

I would tend to go a tad larger but not knowing what your needs are this gentleman has done a lot of work on pricing and to be honest he is low!! You be the Judge!!

That's not a bad price for a new machine...you've got the base unit + the FEL + the 48" mower deck...I'm pretty sure it has power steering, a mid mount PTO, a rear PTO and a 3-point category 1 hitch. That's a lot of new tractor for $10,800.
Once you use the FEL you'll pretty much relegate your wheelbarrow to planter status :D

I think that's a pretty good price for a lot of machine -- provided it is enough for your property/situation.

Went out to the Kubota website and got the BX1500 Sub Compact (http://kubota.com/h/products/BX1500.cfm) link. Pretty impressive little tractor.

Thanks for the input guys. I am gonna take the dive i think. Seemed like a great deal. I already have a buyer for ZTR and my GT5K. I may keep the LT1K for trim duty. I want more room and best way to do that is by getting a machine that can do the most of the stuff I need it for. The BX1500 has 4wd which is nice.

Leo, I agree with the others, sounds like a good price for what you are getting, my SIL bought a BX2230 last year with just the 60" belly mower at around that price, but if you're getting a 48" mower and FEL, I think thats pretty decent :)

Good day so far, I sold my Husq ZTR for $50 more than I bought it for, I sold my GT5000 for $200 less than what I paid for it with all the attachments (snowblower, scoop, bagger). Not bad considering I got a year out of the ZTR and 2 out of the GT5K.
The new tractor is getting delivered tomorrow or tuesday. The dealer I am buying it from is filling the tires with calcium liquid and I made him throw in the hood/grill guard.
Now I gotta get me some of those dogdish hub caps that SJ has and I will have the baddest orange machine in the MTF community!!!

Maybe I'll get those Ghetto spinners on that thing!!!
Just kidding SJ (although it would look awesome with those).
I will post pics. I took a little work getting the little lady to agree on this one, but after I already sold the others for what I feel is a gain, it becomes a no brainer.
The dealer said the FEL can lift 400 lbs. He then demonstrated the actual power by lifting several large cement blocks totaling around 600-700 lbs.
It is a nice machine.

Congrats on the new machine! You'll be amazed at what your new machine will be capable of, and really appreciate the power and fuel efficiency of the diesel.

Pics are coming. I have used the BX1500 for 5 days now and have really given it a good evaluation. On Thursday, I mowed my lawn in a little over 50 minutes (about the same as my old ZTR). No issues whatsover.
On Friday night, I used it to turn over my compost piles (just to get used to using the 4WD and the differential lock, and bucket, etc). It performed great again.
Saturday, I used it to take a FREE SNOWBLOWER off of the back of a pickup truck and put it into my garage. The snowblower is non-operational, but soon will be. Is is an old Bobcat brand snowblower.
Sunday, I spent 5 hrs on the thing grading here yard, moving mulch, and spreading topsoil at my sister-in-laws house. I even popped a few pieces of fieldstone out of her lawn with no issues at all. I also mowed my lawn again as my yard at one time was a cow pasture/apple orchard and grows at a riduculous rate.
So far, I absolutely love the tractor. Only gripe is that the 4WD is fussy to get it in gear. I have done exactly what the dealer told me to, but it takes some fiddling to get it in place, which they assure me is totally normal.
So far, it has saved me a ton of wheelbarrow time.
What are some handy attachments to have for it. I have the FEL and the york rake. What else?

nice..
so the 15 HP diesel does that feel strong enough when cutting grass etc? i mean, does it bog down at all in the thicker stuff or does it seem to have enough power? im assuming 15 HP diesel is not the same as 15 hp gas?
congrats on the new machine...

More than enough power to mow the grass, even in areas where the grass was 12" high. My gt 5K used to bog down in this area. The Kubota mowed it down with no noticable groan.
A 15hp diesel isn't like a 15hp gas. This is a good machine for what i use it for. The "book" on the front end loader says that maximum lift is 400lbs. It does that much easily and can lift probably more. It also has 4WD and it goes through even the muddiest area of my compost area with ease.

Glad to hear you extol the virtues of Kubota and the power of small Diesels !!
You might want to go bigger but you will never go back to gasoline powered wanna-be's no mater what numbers they put on them!!:trink39:

I am guessing that 400lb max is more for safty, then true strenght. They probably found that with 400lbs, she get a bit tippy.

May I suggest a box blade. The handiest smoothing device and I even use it to dress my driveway (gravel). If you are into gardening a rototiller (I bought a used one for $300.00, a 48" from a grey market dealer last year).

My ex-BX2200 with 60" was 10,300 out the door in May, 2003. Sold for $9,850 in May 2004.

My thoughts exactly. I'm 100% sure it is for that reason. It doesn't get really tipsy with a heavy load, as long as it doesn't get hauled up high or is loaded unevenly. I've lifted several large rocks with it with no major issues at all.
I gotta get out with my camera today (playing hooky this afternoon to play!!!) :bannana: :bannana: :bannana:
My next project is to dig out along my driveway all of the mulch and put 3/4" trap rock all along it. It should look really nice, but it will take well over 66 tons to do it!!
After that, I will be rebuilding all my stone walls around our property and building some small planters around the yard with some of the stone.
Here in eastern CT, our #1 crop is field stone!!!
