since I purchased the 2210 Deere , I have wanted a tiller attachment. New is to exspensive for a once or twice a year use.
Ok ,, I have been watching and looking when and where ever I can.
Yesterday , I drove to Dallas Tx. area . to pick up a e-bay win. (A fram machine for the body shop) , laying out in the weeds buy this mans garage is a Kubota small tiller. paint faded but looks great. Long story short , I bought it , $350.00 , Is that a decent price for a use 4 ft. tiller ??

If in good mach shape and tines are decent, a real good price. I paid $600 last fall for a 4.5' Yanmar tiller that was in ver good shape. A couple small dents to sheet metal but tines still had a lot of paint on them (min use) and you can't even hear it running even at full speed.
For something like this working condition is more important IMO than cosmetics.

dr,
Congrats on what sounds like a great purchase. I would see what kind of clutch (slip etc) it has. You're going to find a tiller on the 2210 cuts through turf like a hot knife through butter.

DrB, I know of only one instance where someone bought a Kubota attachment that didn't work out. It was for a very early model with reverse rotation PTO. I don't think there are many of those attachments left in the world.
You're going to love the first patch of ground you tilled with that attachment.

LoL,, I gotta stop telling everything I know :duh:
Thanks guys for the comments , They make me feel like I did good. this thing has only been used in good soil in Tx. So it`s not got a dent and the tines have never been sharpened , they look new.
I would take a pic but the camara is dead . later though.

DrBailey---I had to crack up when I read about the tiller, even though I wouldn't have expected less from a MTF member/fellow horse-trader/smooth talker, etc etc....."WE' just can't, simply cannot leave good stuff alone. :fing32: ....And it sounds like a sweet deal..I know a lawn-care guy that bought one @ an auction for 250.00, and that gear-box was split in two pieces....

Dr, that is an excellent price. I got my tiller with the tractor but price a used one like yours that is 3 pt just yesterday. Guy wanted $900 for it. Needless to say, I will continue to load my 2 point unit on and off for a while longer.
For the price you got this one for, I would send the guy some food from your garden as an extra thanks. :trink39:

I`m waiting for the rain to stop , We got 1 1/2 inch last night , this last two weeks we have gotten about 5 inches and the weatherman says maybe 4 more inches before it stops. :bannana: :bannana:
As per JDF`s advise , I need to get a slip clutch before I try it out.
I didn`t think I would ever find a deal like this one , I`m thrilled

For anyone looking for a tiller for their CUT sized tractor, you just might find what you are looking for at a decent price as near as your closest gray market tractor dealer. Most of the grays are shiped with tillers. depending upon size and condition, you just might find what you are looking for for $300-$600.
The nicest one I've seen was a rare Yanmar with a shuttle mechanism. Just a flick of a control away from offsetting the tiller either left or right on the fly. how many times has anyone that uses a tiller wanted or needed the ability to have the tiller offset to one side or the the other.

That's a good idea. The only thing I see there usually is the 2 point units though. I may try and convert mine to the 3 pt. Also the tines on the gray markets are much different and not as "square" as retail ones I have seen, but seem to cut very well.
Peronally, I like my 2 point unit because it has the wheels on the back instead of a skid.
If any of you know where to get these blades for the grey markets. Please let me know. I will need some for next year.

Paul , thats what I thought maybe , thats why I took a pic of it . I`ve never seen one before so I don`t know.
I will find some info on it Monday , hopefully a manual on the tiller .

Sure looks like every one I have ever seen on a brushcutter. Hard to see in the pic's. Are there springs under those bolts?
drbailey
04-29-2006, 09:23 PM
Yes ,, on the springs Paul . I have been on the net for awhile now , trying to find info , pics or manuals . I`m not haveing any luck yet. I didn`t look that part over to much , but I did feel it , it felt like clutch disc. thats why I assumed it was a slip clutch. JDF ,suggested that I make sure it had a slip clutch so in my feeble mind I got to thinking it might be like a N tractor slip !!

I have heard some talk of those clutches sticking. I have never had one, but may want to check with someone that has. Almost think your susposted to take it apart once in a wile, to make sure its not stuck. I will refer that advice to someone that has one though.
Doc,
In case you haven't gotten a manual yet...http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7568403423&category=46568
PS Check out the price here under Kubota...http://www.weagantfarm.com/used_Equip_2.htm

Mine is a 3pt mount and came with the rear gauge wheels as well + spring loaded skid for flatening and packing the tilled earth.
Would think any gray market dealer that has Yanmars could get you tines for your tiller.

Nice tiller at an affordable price. I couldn't help but notice your AIRCO welder in the background. I hired on with them 22 years ago and still going strong. slkpk

It appears to me in your pictures that there is a slip clutch already on your machine. That is what is in the picture on the right. I guess that I would loosen the springs and make sure it slips before I had some big catastrophy with it though. Once you make sure that it is operational, you can tighten the springs back to their original tension. A new slip clutch will cost ya about half of what your tiller did. Looks like ya got a good deal. Good luck. :goodl:
