I know that this may be considered an "odd" post, but I'm curious how this tractor (Ford LGT140) would stack up against a later model 400 series John Deere around the same age and size as the Ford? Just curious.

What engine is in that Ford LGT on e-bay? Looks like a Yanmar, maybe..

That is a LGT14D not a 140. It was built by Shibaura, the same company that built the Ford compact tractors and the engine is from the same company. The LGT140 was built by Jacobsen with a Kohler engine and was last manufactured in 1971.

Don't know much about the Ford diesels, but if it is anything like the reg. LGT's it would be a very good tractor.
As far as the reg. LGT's go, Jacobsen started making them for Ford in 1971, that's when they stopped making the angle frame models. I believe the LGT's were tube frames.

The LGT's were tube frames, made until 1983.

That 14D is a great machine, I would love to have a diesel engine!

As for how it compares to the JD, I don't know much about the JD models. But I know as far as parts go, JD has it all over the Ford as far as ease of finding and buying parts.

But then again, JD's usually NEED more parts since they break often. :hide:
