Goes too fast and I get the lawn mowed too soon. I keep looking at neighbor's places and trying to decide whether I could sneak in and cut their lawns.
I keep reading posts on RIO and bypass options. Simplicity states in the owner's manual that you should not mow in reverse and has no safety bypass. Nice feature, just look over your shoulder like I always have.
The only time you really need hearing protection is when you engage the mower deck. It's deep and really pulls the grass up for cutting. Great cut EVERYWHERE. We have a country yard that is probably 50% weeds. Weed and Feed, seeding, whatever reallly does little to change this. If it's green it is welcome and gets mowed.
Weeds look better when bent over with stripes.

youve got a great machine 4acres... (i may be biased though ROF) post some picks..
btw: im no design expert... but when doing stripes.. i tend to go in reverse a lot to keep the stiping even and square..
It would be a real PITA if we had to disengage the PTO every time we went in reverse..
maybe they dont force the disengage for ease of striping? (seriously)

I agree with the backing up to square off the stripe runs. Never had to back up too much with the Sabre. Now it's a three point turn after each pass.
With our large yard, I find myself using the fender lever more than the cruise control. Might be a throw back to using the same configuration on the Sabre for 10 years. Really like the foot controls, and ACT but the power steering is amazing. We have it our Honda RT5000 but rarely use it for mowing.
Warning on putting sunglasses in the fender tray. Make sure they are lense up! Scratched the heck out of the lenses on my favorite pair.

what do you mean the fender lever? that is the cruise control right? or at least what simplicity calls the cruise control...
yup power steering is a great feature.. it was 400$ more and at the time i though.. no need for it.. but i got it and am glad.. it makes backing up a little trailer real easy.. plus its great for snow throwing...

Cruise control, you're right. Still waking up!
How much is a 2-stage blower?

Does it mow well at the rated 7.5 mph?
Is there a way to mow without striping? I am just curious and seriously considering the Prestige. I am debating the power steering myself, along with 54" vs 50" deck.

ive never mowed at top speed... too bumpy, but if you dont like the stripes, yes, you mow in the same direction and wont get stripes....

cobalt246,
I've mowed wide open throttle and the cut is fine. On my in-laws 15 acres, some runs are 1200 feet long. You get to know where the bumps are and slow down when needed. No problem cutting off 2-3 inches of grass. I've mowed through 6 inches of grass but you have to slow down as required. Keep the blades sharp and I use the cruise control quite a bit. Power steering, well I will never go back to non-power steering! It really comes into play when you are doing tasks other than mowing. Backing up a trailer is a lot easier. The under-deck stays pretty clean but the 54" deck is a little too big and takes about 7 minutes to remove. It's also pretty heavy.

I wonder how fast my current Huskee HD runs. I always run WOT while mowing. It's probably not that fast, though, as the Prestige, or even a Conquest, for that matter. It's a 16.5 Tecumseh w/hydro tranny and 42" cut.

Sorry for the wording in my last post, I always mow at wide open throttle. Our yards are large enough that I get to mow at top speed most of the time, slowing down where it gets a little rough. The cruise control gets engaged quite a bit.
My wife's sister and her husband bought her parent's place last fall and he bought a gas 4wd Legacy XL with a 60" deck and FEL. Can't wait until spring to see how it mows at speed.

It's an awesome deck. Last year my GT14H was in the shop. Repair shop got lazy and I was without a mower while for my Legacy to get delivered. The grass in my backyard was at least 10". With my GT and it's 14" deck, I would have had to cut it twice and only take a half deck width at a time. With the Legacy it was full cut and not even a burp. I didn't know whether to call it a mowing deck or a brush hog. ROF
Sorry if I'm only making your mouth water. Come to think of it, my own mouth is watering too. :fing32:
