I've had awfully good luck out of the Kodak digital cameras. I'm on my second one right now. Started out with a 2MP Kodak, in fact I still have it and not using it. Late last year I stepped up to a 5MP Kodak and it is a really good camera as well for the price.

What is your definition of cheap, Ken? It looks like you can some 3 megapixel cameras for under $100. Steve's Digicams (http://www.steves-digicams.com/)

Look at Wal-Mart or a Meijers or other department store for a fuji camera. Any of these models you might find on close out. 205,210,2650,and i think 330 and 340. They would be your best bet and they all have an optical zoom. I have seen them for around $125.00 before. They are a decent quality camera and you can also find refurbished ones on e-bay.

I'll have to chime in with a "promo" for HP cameras. Let me know what you're looking for in a camera and I can give you some specific model recommendations with price ideas....

I'm pretty fond of the Canon PowerShot series of digi-cams. They have models that span a broad array of price-points. Follow Mow's link to Steve's (http://www.steves-digicams.com/) and read the reviews. It's a reputable online resource.

This looks a real good camera for the money and only $5.00 shipping. Newegg is one of the highest rated companies on the internet.

:ditto: I did the same thing! Had a DX3500 and then stepped up to the DX7590. Great camera...awesome pics!

I mentioned buying a Cannon A400 to one of my buddys, he told me to ask how difficult is the software to use ( I am very non -knowledgeable on computers). He has a Kodak easy share and likes it and the software is easy- according to Chris. How is the Cannon software?
And by the way, thanks very much for the links, that Steve's is a great site.
Chris asked what I'm going to do with it. - Post shots on the tractor forum- what else?

If you get the kodak printer, you don't even need to hook it up to a computer!

DTY, the whole idea is to be able to post stuff, Don't I need a computer for that?

Mike,

Strictly IMO... The Kodak software mostly blows chunks. It loads unnecessary drivers & other "Print-to-Web"/Order prints online/yada-yada BS software that 99% of people will never use anyway. It loads lots of stuff that it leaves running in the background, so it's a resource hog unless you know how to go in & disable the load on startup. They pretty much hand it out like gummint cheez. If you're 'adventurous' I can send you a disk. I've got a couple around here somewhere. I been known to use 'em on people I don't like too much & don't care to work on their junk anymore.

The Canon software doesn't load unnecessary BS. It auto-configures when you install it, recognizes the camera & downloads the photos automatically when you plug in the USB cable & turn on the camera. (It puts your photos into folders labeled with the download date.) It has an easy to use set of basic features for red-eye reduction, color enhancement, crop, etc. Anything more complicated you'd want to use Photoshop anyway.

My totally computer illiterate wife & ma-in-law can use it & make prints without hollering for help. That's a bonus in my book! :fing32:

I don't load any peripheral software for Printers, Cameras, ISP, or Drives, on my machines. It's just BLOAT, IMO. Just say no unless you absolutely need it to make the peripheral work.

Catdaddy, that is what I was looking to hear, I was just at K-mart and both cameras were the same price $149, I was favoring the Cannon, the 17th street photo supply on line was $ 129 I think. I have to decide which store to buy from.

Couple of pics that i took last week on vacation..

So far i am still learning how to use it..Some pics come out slanted as if i am moving the camera down as the image is getting exposed..

Yes, i would get the same one again.. The price was right for my needs..

The first pic is of our first house in Streamwood,IL. Built in 1967.

The second was taken in Meramac Cavern, Jessie James Hideout in Missouri.

Where's the cave at, Ken?

I do the same thing as I tend to bring the camera down after I click the button, and sometimes there is a delay before the actual shot is taken.

I can easily straighten any crooked shots for you if you desire.
