Had this gravel and Class II delivered late last Summer. I couldn't be home when the gravel was delivered so I told the gravel company where I wanted it dumped but their driver got it wrong and dumped it in the wrong place. I just left it there over the winter but since it was in the way, I moved it yesterday.

It took me 3&1/2 hours to move both piles with the JBJr but it sure beat the hell out of using a wheelbarrow and a shovel. It worked exactly like John Scheele advertised. It simply replaces a wheelbarrow and shove. I also use my JBJr to plow snow, carry heavy stuff, and a bunch of other things.

Anyway, I use the gravel and Class II to maintain my driveways, road, and parking area.

Jody -

You're exactly right!! It saved my back and countless hours. I think if I'd worked 8-hour days, it would have taken at least 3 days to move that much material with a wheelbarrow and shove.

I know I really tout the JBJr but it does so much for me and is so well constructed that I think it is worth every penny.

Hello the Bucketeers,

Yes,....BUT!
I was ssoooo disappointed when I installed the electric actuator upgrade kit. Operationally, this "upgrade" introduced two(2) AWFUL characteristics. It seriously limits the height of the lift of the bucket(and it was already marginal). AND, it now doesn't have enough power to lift a full bucket of dirt whenever you ram the bucket into a pile of dirt(in order to fill it).
Looking back on it, I believe that John rushed the design of this kit. This problem could be solved by using the 6" stroke acuator with the 2,000 lb capacity, plus a few changes in the design of the bracketry.
I'm not going to spend any more money on it, so I'm just going to go back to the original system, with the winch. NO, I have NOT communicated with John about any of this. I don't want to risk hurting his feelings.

Willie & Guys -

I've had the original JBJr from day 1. It uses a winch and came with two ropes - one for bucket dump and one for bucket reset. I modified my JBJr so that I use one rope only - bucket dump and a solid steel rod for bucket reset and bucket down pressure. Here is a pic of the solid steel rod. Note that I put it on the left side of the tractor for easier control while operating the "fender mounted motion control lever".

I have moved tons and tons and tons of gravel, Class II, river rock, dirt, and many other things and the WINCH has worked well for me. I have broken the winch cable twice but have fixed it in 10-minutes using cable crimpers and cable crimps. I have been careful not to hold the winch switch after the bucket has reached it's limit thereby avoiding overheating the winch and burning it out.

For anyone still using the original two rope system, I have pics and will post them along with a description of installing the steel rod mod to the left side.

Thanks Ed, for the post and the bump. I just needed something else to make me want a JBJr. I have been on vacation/honeymoon for a while and missed a few posts.

Like 911, I have been saving my pennies for one. For two years now I have saved, and if John ever makes one for the Deere GT series, I can now afford two of them.ROF
