A neighbor gave me an old 6 foot Big Bee rotary cutter (bush hog) with a bent deck, the gear box is leaning about 5 degrees and it doesnt cut quite level. I have been trying to get the stump jumper off so I can remove the gearbox and put the Lincoln to work. The nut came off with little effort but the splines aren't giving up. I have soaked the shaft with Kroil but no go. Any ideas on what I might try to get it loose. Thanks

Kyfarmer, if it's anything like a land pride you should have a hole on a section of the deck to install the cutters to the dishpan (stumpjumper). If so you will need a heavy bar such as a spud some where in the 30 40# range and drive on the bar (blade mounting area) from the top then turn and repeat till it falls off. Do not heat up the hub area as it may fatigue the power heads output shaft and seal or the spline area of the pan.. Ifm you could obtain a very large bearing puller you may want to try w/ an air impact, be carefull so not to tear up the cross bar...

Got it off with the help of a log chain, bottle jack, and 12 lb. sledge. Hooked the chain around the blades and left it slack below the shaft. Sat the bottle jack on the chain and pressed on the end of the shaft. Got it under a great deal of tension and a little bit of persuation with the sledge and it all hit the floor. A piece of 3/8 plate and a hand full of 6011's and I am back in business.

Glad you got it off Kyfarmer.. Sometimes they get some of the acids from the weeds and grasses that you cut onto the shaft splines and that will sieze them up also... When I tear them down anymore I lube everything w/anti/sieze compound. I really dont know if it helps as the torque for our land prides is quite high and they still are a fight to take off. How is it working?
