View Full Version : Ingersoll 318LGT
Anybody know what transaxle the Ingersoll 318LGT uses? It's foot controlled and from the look of the arse end, it's not the hy-tran setup?!?! http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Ingersoll-318LGT-Tractor-w-Mower_W0QQitemZ7743919740QQcategoryZ50377QQrdZ1QQc mdZViewItem

No it is not the normal Ingersoll [or Case] Hytran setup. I dont know who makes it, but it is a Hydro transaxle like most GT's have these days. It was there atempt to come out with a more "mainstreem lower cost" unit. Dont think they sold many.
Given the orientation of the engine, I'm wondering if it's setup like a cub 2000/3000 series. The hydrostatic drive is coupled directly to the flywheel side of the engine with a steel driveshaft. A good setup provided the transaxle holds a decent amount of oil & has a spin on filter :trink39: . I *think* I can see some aluminum sticking out from inside the right rear wheel, so maybe it's an aluminum transaxle. Gotta love that fab'd steel deck and all that steel in general! Hytran or not, I think I would have ponied up a few more bucks over my CC 2544 if I could have found a 318LGT. No real dealer network in my area! :fing20:

I dont know if it is shaft driven. I almost think not. But the rest of the frame, and deck stuff, is pretty much old C/I stuff. I never saw one in person. My local dealer does not stock the tractors any more.
Hoping the deler network will improve with the new owners.
