Ok guys I am bringing this back from the old Tractorforum days and I have always thought it was a good one.

If money was no object what type of tractor would you buy for your yard, for the real work around your property, and which one just for the fun of it?

For me for my yard a John Deere X595SE I have always like the look of this tractor and it would be a big improvement over what I have..
For my pasture work I would have to say it would be a something like what Chief has a 4000 series John Deere, I really like Kubotas and any of them for the fun side would be great. :trink39:

Money no object:
1.) Truck -Ford F 250 4 door 4 wheel drive Kings Ranch edition
2.) Yard / Garden Tractor - John Deere GT 235 (based on my yard size and what I do)
3.) Compact / utility tractor (If I needed one) John Deere 4520
4.) Classic tractor for parades / shows - Ford Workmaster 1954- 1959
5.) Car to cruise around in - New Mustang GT convertible.
6.) Classic car for shows - 1964 Galaxie 500 convertible.
7.) Vacation home - 10 acres on a mountain lake in North Carolina. Log cabin with modern stuff (I need my Sat. TV). - now that I have this 10 acres, I do have a use for the John Deere 4520.
8.) 2nd vacation home - my wife likes the beach better than the mountains, so while I am spending money, a beach front house on Topsail Island in NC.

I wonder how much I spent there?

id get rid of my old firebird and get a new vette..
nothing to do with a tractor.. but it would look great next to it..

Id keep my prestige.,. but get the 4*4 legacy... i mean i could get bigger.. but for my yard.. the legacy would be a good fit...

while we are trading up..
can i trade my g/f in for a new 20 year old version?? (just kidding of course) ROF

For the yard: Ford LGT195

For work around property: Probably one of the New Holland Boomers

Just for fun: Ford 8N with Funk V-8 conversion

Probably a 50 - 60 HP MF w/remote hydraulics, FEL

Barn full of Steam Engines
Barn full of Oil Burners
Barn full of Stationary Engines
Barn full of John Deeres
Barn full of Cases
Barn full of Farmalls
Barn full of Olivers

Oh well, you get the idea. If I were to hit the lottery the size of my house will likely stay the same. But the workshop, barn, and property size are a different story.

I would like a 50's Deere two cylinder or a C.U.T. with F.E.L.

Durwood, if you ever got 'that' type of Harley set-up...you'd surely have to be wary of 'load' shifting, on the turns! ;)

Durwood - Is there a girl behind those funbags? I didn't see.

Yard - X595 Special Edition 4WD Garden Tractor w/ all the attachments, it would do all I needed.
Pasture - Probably a Kubota M9000, why not? It would do all I wanted.

So I'm to imagine that I'm filthy rich and tractor shopping?..........

On my Hawaiian estate, I'd have a Deere X495 diesel
On my Idaho retreat, I'd have a Deere 3720 mostly for snow removal
On my Pennsylvania farm, I'd have a whole flock of Green machines. :Tractor2:
The truck at all 3 locations would be a Dodge 1 ton diesel crew cab with either an 8 foot bed or 12 foot stake body.
Wife's car would be a new Mustang convertible
My fancy go to meeting car would be a totally restored vintage 1950's Rolls Royce or 1960's vintage Astin Martin.

Well for mowing I would have a nice big comershal ztr. They I would probably pick up a 1400 series MF compact for working. To play? Cant have just one. Anything that strikes my fancy I guess.

:ditto: on the ZTR, Paul. My brother in-law has a Dixie Chopper Extreme Series It has a 32 HP Generac and a 72" cut. You can really knock out some mowing with that thing!

This is a great thread. I can't believe more haven't responded to it so i'm giving it a bump. Surely everyone would buy something other than what they have now if price was no object. :fing32:

Personal
F-350 king ranch w/chip, intake, exaust, propane kit, lift kit, mud tires, snow plow, winch, etc.
Class A motor home
A house (still live at home)
Bass Boat
1947 Seabee airplane

Work
6-F550 with switch and go body systems and blizzard 8611 snow plows
18 or so dumpster and dump bodies for the F-550s
2-F350 w/blizzard 810 snowplows
4-20' enclosed trailers
2-20' equipment trailer
4-52" 722D Grasshoppers
4-52" 25hp Wright standers
4-32" 17hp Wright standers
A bunch of 2stroke hand held stuff
1-perma green ride on spreader
1-ASL RC-60 skid loader
1-ASL RC-100 skid loader
1-72" rotodarain
2-cat mini excavators
2-toro 425xt dingos(lots of attachments)

There are not a lot of responses, I think, because this thread is in the Equipment Review forum. Maybe it would be better served in the Off Topic Forum where more people would see it? To get back on topic:

I'd probably get something in the Deere X series for the work. Sure, that's WAY overkill, but who cares? I've got money ;)

As for the "fun" machine, I'd like one of those embankment cutters, the 2-wheel motorcycle lookin' jobby. That looks like fun.

I'm afraid if money wa no object.........what ever I spent it on woudl have nothing in commoon with tractors or plants etc. I would buy a trawler type boat, and head to the islands and anywhere else my fancy guided me, along with the furbabies and wife..........no telephone no grass to cut, shingles to repair, fences to mend tractors to drive, vehicles to fiddle with, property or other taxes to pay......just the boat and the wide open spaces of the waters......For awhile I lived on a 43 footer, and it was the cats meow......and I do believe I could live and keep myself occupied with such a setup pretty darn easy even if moored in foreign ports and tropical islands than actually out cruising.

All of You folks have some great ideas; I really gotta agree with memmurphy; now thats a barnfull of goodies.. About the only change I would half to make is a newer version of a haul vehicle; Ya know, one of these new one ton deisels; something that won't beat Your bohinery to death driving down a rough country road like a B Mack; and one Ya don't half to roll down both windows to change the climate.

1979 ford f-150 with dana 60 up front and a corparation 14 bolt in the rear sitting on 44 in super swamper tsl's!

Dur, the reason I didn't respond earlier was I would do the same exact thing all over again!! Why screw with what works right the first time!!

I do agree it is a good thread!! :bump9: Perhaps a retitle to "If money were no object I'd buy my G/F/Wife/SO/ a ---------"

:omg: If money wasn`t a problem ROF I`d have a new toy to play with every day. I would just buy whatever I wanted just to try it out. It would all depend on what type of lawn I`d be mowing.New trailer and a truck to haul all the toys. Get a mountaineer 4X4X4 for the lawns with any slope. Then a walker outfront mower with enclosed grass catcher for lawn with lots of trees and shrubs. A Scag ZTR, Like to try a ferris with the suspension. Like to have a hustler mini fast track with the 42" deck and Honda twin. A John Deere 2210 would be nice.A Kubota with a 54" deck so I could use Gator Mulching blades, plus the orange color is cooool.Always liked the Ingersoll 3018 and few attachment, the sweeper sound interesting and there has got to be a lawn vacuum out there that empty itself without me being covered in dust. A Wright Stander with the 52" deck. Toro ground master with 6 ft deck Exmark CT with 44" deck with ROP`s. A DR.field and brush mower with the Kawa. and all attachments. A DR.tow behind chipper. :fing20: Then I`d need a nice place to keep all the toys. :omg: The wife would have her camper can`t leave her out and would be out exploring somewhere in AZ seeing all the sites. That place is to hot for me.Well you asked I know I missed something that would be interesting or fun to use. I most likely never sleep just thinking about what I was going to use the next day. :fing32:

After trying to design a shed that will meet my purposes and desires, then finding out what the community building code will allow ... ! :banghead3

I would move to a place that doesn't have such stringent codes. Then I would build a nice shop. I think that I would let Chipmaker furnish it for me. :trink39:

Would build a separate equipment shed. I don't know who I could get to stock that? Any volunteers??? :trink39: You know, tractors and attachments. Maybe some older cars.

Probably 1/4 to 1 section with rolling land, woods, natural spring for a pond. Lots of nice mature trees for lumber. (That means another building for wood working)! :fing32:

If money was no problem then I would build my dream machine from scratch... It would be all wheel drive, zero-turn with a dump box, three point, full hydraulics, 110 volt gen set, snow blade attachment, cup holder, power stearing, power brakes, lambar seat, spot light, 12 volt plug adapter, winch attachment, radio, horn, very goog lighting, tool box and what ever else I could think of...

If I had loads of money I'd hire [deleted by Ingersoll444, see post father down]to do the lawn and I'd cruise to the airport in my restored '30's Rolls or Packard to go flying in my new Cessna 182 w/ Robertson STOL kit. :bannana: Ta heck with mowing!!! ROF
