Years ago, working in the trade, I used a parts washer with Safety-Kleen service. Since then I have used a variety of solvents to clean parts at home, everything from diesel, kerosene, mineral spirits, or store-bought mixes. What do you use or recommend to get those parts clean for rebuild and re-installation?

And how do you dispose of them when they need to be replaced? Will recyclers take them?

i usually use kerosene to get the crud off and then i will wire wheel it if needbe. then i rinse parts in paint thinner\reducer to get the kero off. i mix this in with my drain oil to get rid of.

B-12 Chem Tool both in the spray can and in the bulk-liquid can. Works for 90% of everything I need to do. Goes to the dump recycler when it has served it's purpose. Safety-Kleen is a great cleaner but not available in my area.
