I bought this pressure washer when they were running their first come first serve deal. I had windows, gutters, decks, siding, cement, and the grill to get cleaned, so I decided on the B & D Electric 1600 PSI unit considering I would only use it a few times a year. Assembly was simple and fun to do, every part fit correctly. It does not take that long to set it up to pressure wash either, 5 minutes max. I thought it performed quite well on the jobs that I was using it for. More than enough PSI to get the job done. I liked the adjustable wand for both pressure and pattern and I thought the Turbo nozzle worked well also. The agitation of the Turbo nozzle helps when the fan wand does not perform, or when you want to clean large areas.

25 feet of hose was not enough for me to be able to do the roof, so that was a little disapointing. As others have stated about the shutdown problem, that is the cause of running the unit for long periods of time on the wrong guage of extension cord. The unit gets hot and automaticly shuts down to cool. I ran this unit on a 12 guage extension cord with a fuse breaker on it and I had no problems at all! As with all pressure washers, they develope air in the lines and you have to get that out in order to have full pressure. Well, this unit takes a long time to get the air out. (I was following the manual)

All and All this is a good pressure washer except for the miner problems. I give 4 out of 5 stars for a good product from B & D

PS: To solve the limited 25 feet of high pressure hose problem, I bought a 25 foot hose and coupler from Northern Tool.

Date Purchased: 08/01/05
Price Paid: $170 (can be bought around 130-160)

bought the cheap wally world karcher k 2.19, 85 bucks, to clean the siding at my lake house so i dont have to haul the gas unit down there. it works good for this, it works good for the price and for what i am using it for .just a little disappointed in the price of the accessories, an extra pressure hose and an extension wand 66 inches long costs more the the original unit. i like the size, about the same size as a twenty pack of beer.luckily, i aready had a commercial 50 foot 12 ga extension cord.

UPDATE!!!

Well, here we are 3 years later and I am sorry to have to say this but I am going to have to drop this machine down to 2 stars.

The shutdown issue that I and others have stated about is actually a bigger problem then I first realised. I went to pressure wash this guys house siding and I plugged it into his outside wall socket, which you would think would be highly rated. Well, everytime I tried to use it, the pressure washer would trip his circut breaker! OK just so you know, I have never seen electric powered equipment do that before, a weed eater does not even do that!

The other problem I mentioned before about getting the air out of the lines? OK its still as I said if your taking the unit out from storage and hooking it up to your hose for the first time. But say you hooked it up and you ran it for awhile in the front of your house on that hose, all went well right? And did not take long to get the air out, well if you consider a minute not long.

Now say you want to do the back yard, so you go and transfer the machine to the backyard hose and hook it up. So you turn on the water and you turn on the machine. Oh oh, whats going on here? Its taking bloody forever now for the air to get out of the lines! Here I am trying to get the air out and I have waisted 10 freaking minutes of my time.

Once the air is out of the lines, it still operates well but I noticed something, don't hook up your pressure washer to somebody elses hose where the pressure is less then 45 PSI otherwise your pressure while using the washer will vary low and high as you go as if the machine is possesed. This machine requires high pressure from your hose, high current from your house, and a whole lot of patience. Don't got patience? Forget buying this...

PS: That normal pipe fitting that I got to join the 2 hoses together blew out so now I am back down to 25 feet of hose again. So that means I won't be reaching my roof, what a waste of money. :(
