I found this edge hog to be very usuful. For edging you do not need a gas powered machine. This edger has plenty of power. So much power infact, I never bogged it down all the way. This is of course for home use only, not for a landscaping service, however I find it keeps up really well, and I maintain it too. I bought this edger last summer and it lasted all through then. I have a lawn care service. And I do not mind using it for landscaping service purposes. This edger is only $90.00 bucks. This is the best electric edger you can buy. And the blade that it uses has jagged edges on it to help cut through better. And you can buy replacment blades for it as well. I use it with two 100 foot cords together to equal 200 feet. Yes hulling that much of cord is a bit of a pain, however, its still easier than trying to maintain a gass edger. However, I do not recomend that you use more than 200 feet of cord. If you do, you might lose curent and your moter will burn up due to loss of power from outlet. I used this electric device to not only landscape a home owners lawn, but I also used it to landscape a buisines. Aftor doing so, there were never any complaints! This is a great buy! Go ahead and enjoy your Black & Decker Edge Hog!

Termey,
I actually used to own one of these. Like you said it is a tough little edger. I did not wear it down in the 5 years I owned it. I got tired of lugging cords around and traded it off. Actually I dontated to a Church since, they needed an edger. Still running now 6.5 years later. Good purchase. :fing32:

I considered one until I got so completely tired of stringing around extension cords. Good review! :fing32:

UPDATE!!!
Here we are 5 years later with this edge hog of wonders. lol
Believe it or not, absolutely no maintanance has been required except for keeping the machine clean and replacing the edger blade. I am really impressed with this edger, actually, more impressed with it then I was in the beginning!
Like I said before, it has all the power that I need, never needed more then what it could put out and its so easy to clean this thing. And I have had no electrical problems with it so far. Makes me wonder how B&D can make an excellent edger but make a pos pressure washer? Naa, don't worry, I aint bashing B&D, I like their products, I am just curious as to why?
Well, there you have it fokes, still works great like the day I bought it, go out there and buy yourself a B&D!

Hey Termy, I own one of these too and have been using it for the past couple of years, really a tough little edger. I've found it works better for me if I use it like a vacuum cleaner and use back & forth motion with it. Seems to cut the grass that hangs over cleaner this way, do you use it like that too?

The funny thing is, I do lol :D And your right, it does really work well that way which is how I think an edger is intended to.

I have bad asthma and use electric everthing to edge, trim an cut. The 2 cycle exaust kills me.
I have the B&D edger. The edger does not edge half as well as the old model. The old model had bad engineering. The screws that held it together went into plastic. They kept falling a part. The old model had a longer blade and edged with perfection. This new model sucks. The blade does not cut well. The lever that lowers and raises the guide is always slipping. The handle is to close to the top. I am 6-1 and 280 pounds. The leverage is terrable. The handle needs to be adjustable like the old model. I live in the city and have an average lot. I use it on my neighbors yard and I do not get 8 months of use from the blade. Black and Decker in the 50's made good tools then they went too.........
Black and decker makes crap. They bought the Dewalt name and killed the good raidial arm saw. They now own Delta and Porter Cable. What a shame. Most of the Dewalt tools are over priced junk. Ask your local repair service.
This will be the last B&D edger I will ever buy. I picked up a good line trimmer that does a much better job and is light and adjust for any angle.
Pox on B&D. They make crap and their Power tools are not woth the powder to blow them up! I have over 200 thousand dollars worth of tools in my shop and I was a tool and die maker in my former life. I know tools and I know how to make them. B&D does not.
