We were discussing what happened last summer, when Ingersoll declared bankruptcy, and I thought I'd get some up to date info by e-mailing Eastman Industries who took them over. Surprisingly, I got an answer from the president of the company.

First, my question, then his answer:

Hi guys,
How soon will production of the Ingersoll/Case line of tractors resume? I realize moving the operation from Wisconsin to Maine is gonna take time, but this is a topic of some interest in several tractor discussion forums. I hope you can be making tractors soon. Any info I can pass along will be helpful. Thanks!

Joe

Dear Joe,

We commenced producing tractors in Wisconsin last August. Our production continues in full gear. Our relocation to Maine will occur gradually so we will have as little disruptions to our operations as possible.

Sincerely,

Nick Nikazmerad

So it sounds like they are still in production, have parts support and are available.

Maybe you should ask them for a demo unit that you could drive around to the different forums for a first hand look!:)

Can't believe you actually got an answer!

That IS great news, I hate to see ANY of garden tractors being discontinued, especially ones as nice as the Ingersolls. And I agree with lawn toad, I hope they keep that old school look too!

So I'm not the only guy that hates the "Jelly Bean" look? Thank goodness! I hate it in cars and trucks too, makes everything look the same, and shows no style at all. I mean how streamlined does a lawn or garden tractor have to be with a top speed of less than 10 MPH?

LOL well think you KNOW how I feel, Joe!!!!!!

That is great to hear, and everything I heard seem to show that they will try to make a go of it.

Any company that keeps the "old school" look...and quality...deserves the business!
Sure wish, the car/truck companies would do so as well.

Joe you know you have a point with the old style. I like my NH, but it sure doesn't look like a tractor to me!

I wonder if there is a way to send a link of this thread to the president. Since you are now one of his contacts in the real world.

It is sad when car brands die, but it is a tragedy when tractor brands die!

I already sent him a link. Figured since he seems to be a "hands on" kinda guy, he might even post here, after all it's free access to the public, right?

I live in the Portland, Maine area and work right around the corner where Eastman's will be building these tractors once the move is complete. I'm going to take a tour as soon as I can. If they let me take pics I'll of course post them for you all...

Well, as posted earlier today, Eastman industries has updated the Ingersoll website with specific info on their resumption of production:

Tuesday, January 24th, 2006

Update, Ingersoll Tractor Company

Ingersoll Tractor resumed production of the 4000 Series tractors during the summer of 2005. The first truckload of tractors was shipped to an Ingersoll distributor last September. The production of 4000 series tractors, accessories and parts is in full swing at our plant in Winneconne WI.

On January 6th, 2006 Eastman Industries, Ingersoll’s parent company, completed the purchase of a building complex located on 410 Riverside Street in Portland, ME. Both Eastman and Ingersoll operations will move to the new facility during the first half of this year. The Ingersoll move, in particular, will be gradual in order to minimize disruptions to our manufacturing and parts operations.

We will post timely bulletins of our progress and new developments.

Sincerely,
Bill Parkin

General Manager

Ingersoll Tractor Co.

So we now know that the 4000 series machine is currently available, we can only hope that the 6000 series loaders, and 3000 series machines will follow along. I also hope that they will produce all the nifty attachments that used to be available for these fine machines.

I bet you could put 23 " or 24" wheels on back no problem!
