A few weeks ago, somebody asked how we store our equipment. Here is how I keep my PHD out of the weather and out of my way. I put a 2" pipe across 4 rafters. I just back up, lift up, chain up, unhook, and drive away! I did find out that you don't want to hang it as high as the 3pt will lift (you need slack to unhook the chain). Hook up is much easier - just back up swing into position, hook up and away you go! Keeps the PHD out of the dirt and out of the weather.

That s pretty ingeious way to store that PHD. My dad does something similar and lifts his cab off the tractor with a winch and slides a couple boards under it for summer storage.

This year i tried something different, mine are stored under a nice weather proof blanket.........of snow ROF I guess time got away from me. Next year they will be snug in my new tractor shed. :fing32:

Thanks for the idea Dash. A couple of weeks ago I backed up to a trailer, unhooked one with a 12" bit attached from my MF50 and put it on a trailer. I had my dad hold the drive shaft and lifted it with my shoulder. I think it gave me a hernia! I was in a hurry is why I didn't take the bit off first.
In the future I will be using your technique. Thanks again.

you can also keep the auger on and just tie it to a post of some sort and it will stay upright.

Implements always increase beyond storage space. Dash it looks like you have staved off the inevitable for awhile. That is a good idea!

Good idea! I have also seen fabricated stands for PHD's.

Yes had one of those "fabricated stands" until a guy come by to look at a PHD and saw the stand. he ask how much was the satnd to go with the PHD and I told him it wasnt for sell it was just to display. Then he offered 300 dollars for the stand; so needless to say I need to get another one built. ROF

Yeah - I've hung it with the auger on, too, but this photo was taken on one of those occassions where I had broken the shear bolt between the auger and the gearbox, so I just left it off! I used to have a stand for one, but with it able to swing, it makes it a lot easier to hook onto the tractor!
