Hi all big tractor fans. I don't want to sound like I'm whinning or complaining ecspecially since I haven't been involved since the new forum has started. As some may have noticed I have stopped in once in a while to see how things are going. I'm into the big tractors and I see very little happening for the big tractors. I still recommend others to the new forum but then I get feed back that there isn't much to offer. Some of the comments that I have received is that there is a forum for every type of tractor and little or no activity on them. I try to encourge people to post but they say why, there not much activity.

So here I am asking what can be done to make more people interested in the big tractor forum? What can be done to keep bringing big tractor people back to mytractorforum.com ? Maybe it's to early yet. I know most of the moderators have done an excellent job but I am sure they could use more help. Maybe I'm just disappointed that it's not tractorforum. Was not my intentions to upset anyone and I hope I haven't.

Does anyone have any restorations in progress they could post? Or maybe common problems (and common/uncommon fixes) for a given model or brand.

Maybe some pictures of them at work, or at play in parades, might bolster interest & generate traffic in the forums?

Just some ideas...

When you invite someone over explain to them that it is a young site and the only way it can grow is if people post something. Then tell them to post something to help it along.(and to be patient and keep checking back). If enough people would post anything their first time here, then it would cause a snowball effect. I always stress that the only way to grow is posting. :fing02:

Thats the thing that happens is that people sign up but NEVER POST! All they need to do is start posting and people will reply to them!

Pictures are always good,, try putting in a new thread at least once a week ( more often if you can). I know I'm as guilty as any in the not posting category, on the forums I mod, but there just ain't much happening here right now besides rain! :00000060: I will hopefully soon have something of some interest to post. Every bit helps to get the ball rolling. :trink40:

Ya know... I was kinda wondering that, myself. Don't get me wrong, everybody here seems to be a great bunch of guys (and gals), but the focus really seems to be on lawn tractors.

I didn't get any pictures taken this week, but I'm going to go ahead and start a new thread for the JD#5 "restoration(?)" that I finished this weekend. I've got some "before" pictures to stick out there....

Time will tell...I think that's what it takes...We're just out of the chute!! I think we need to keep posting stories about large tactors and their pictures...

Build it...they will come!! applies here.

Lots of good ideas mentioned, posts and pics defintley draw attention. I love seeing the pics and hearing about what someone is doing or has done with their equipment. Does'nt matter if it is new or not or in good shape or bad, post them pics and the members will be drawn to check it out, this forum has the potential to be a huge member draw, but activity is key. Folks gotta remember that with spring summer coming, activity will drop some, but fall and winter when there is nothing to do outside, the activity always picks up.

Yes caseman I have noticed!! Was going to to answer your request yesterday but got mired in ********, actually choosing to let well enough alone and just be content to stop :beatdeadh !!

Steve your correct when you say The Focus seems to be on Lawn tractors and with the site having over 300 members with the preponderence of them being homeowners and having like minded equipment it stands a good chance of remaining in that enviorment , which is fine and is a great forum for that kind of equipment!!

Today I own nothing larger than a CUT but am intimately acquainted with much larger AN-IM-ALS!! Truth be told to the best of my knowledge there is not a Chat forum dedicated to the Big Boys and Their daily activities , (They are too busy working to chitter chatter about who makes which fan belt, greese, and the like)! No offense intended!

About a week ago I had asked Admin to put a sub forum in The Big Barn for Large Kubotas and McCormicks (New Case International's) !
It was done in two days time Which I appreciate incidently!! Still haven't used it!! My remissfull error!

SJ I recieved my bumper stickers today (thanks for nice handwritten note) and immediately thought I should plaster one over my mouth but G/F thought it would be better served covering up my keyboard!!

Here are some of my big tractor pictures and hope you interested fellows can get that forum vitalized!!

I'd say we aren't doing to bad for being only a couple of months old...Rome wasn't built in a day...MTF won't be either.....it takes time.

Dean, why was the McCormick split,, clutch trouble??

Archdean
05-02-2005, 11:07 PM
Exactly two very thin clutch plates disintegrated and the auto sensor HYD valves became confused and tried to apply power the 3rd and 4th gear simultaneously! At least that was the way McCormic Engineers explained it to me!!

parts man

Yup,, powershift transmissions=trouble! I like the good old-fashion syncromesh trannys,, maybe you have to shove the clutch to shift, but how big a chore is that!? It certainly isn't only the McCormicks with troubles of that kind either, my neighbor runs Deeres, their back for repair more than they're working! Same deal too, too much hydraulically or electronically actuated systems! A farm tractor is used under pretty severe situations, mechanical systems outlast every time.

I would agree argee (try typing that twice) and if the minds would open their is a great deal to be gained by having all sorts of folks participate !!
I'll speak for only for myself here!~ I have been cautioned/threatened with being banned by you and 3 others on 5 different occasions for putting forth knowledge/experience that I have benifitted from in my travels and or experiences in my life to date !!

I don't always cotton to the messenger any more then the next guy! The fact is I learn a lot more from the people I don't like than from the people I do!! It really doesn't matter the reason!!

FOR ALL EX SITE MEMBERS!! Do me/us a favor on this site and drop the past from the other one!!:trink39:
