View Full Version : A marriage between Kubota & John Deere!!

For about 5 or 6 years now I have had one Helluva time with my Little L/G Tractor climbing/turning uphill from about a 30 % grade from the lake front on the property!! It needed more weight in the rear but no matter how well G/F fed me it just wasn't happening and even with her increase in the rear ballest (oops, said for the interest of literary humor only) !!
Today I finally got around to mounting an extra 150# to the rear of my Kubota TG1860 Tractor !! Pics to follow:
I admired Aegt5000's rear weight project to his Bolens but found one potential problem with that arrangement in that it put an added burden on the axels/bearings!
I was fortunate to of been able to pick up two 75# John Deere weights for Free (You listening Joe) and with minor adapting they fit perfectly on the Kubota Rims!!
Here's the problem, should I leave them JD Yellow or paint them Kubota Orange????

I think they should go orange if you need the paint just let me know.
Dean,
Do you have any copies of those pics that are bigger? My program says they are only 32k...and they get fuzzy when expanded.

Yes of course Greg , how would you want them sent? I shrink them to fit and as such I can only post 3!
I take them full bore w/ a Cannon G2 and would be happy to e-mail or send them in any form, however you want them!
Can you resize one down to 80k and post as an attachment? Same pic.

Greg,
I just discovered that I took them in the wrong format , I will take more tomorrow w/better detail if you want? tell me specifically and I'll attempt to not be so Ham Fisted !!
That's still jpeg and should be fine as is. Just shrink to about 80k and attach. The full tractor pics are best. Should be fine, but if a prob, send to me via PM.

I will do that in a second or two but I took them (my fault in a raw format and when I converted them to Jpeg WYSIWYG) The setting on my G2 is right next to the Auto and when I'm in a hurry I miss it ! Sorry , It's not the first time I have done that!! I don't believe your/site will take a raw file that big, Promise I'll do it right tomorrow !!

Greg,
It wouldn't take it through PM, sorry!!
I'll do it first thing in the morning, am interested why you are interested though!
OK.
Just trying to help out with attaching pics. I noticed the graininess and knew it was probably a resizing prob.
You could also try a hosting site for a larger view, if you want. Anyway, we'll see tomorrow.

Thanks for helping, had I not screwed it up in the first place it would of worked fine, as you know I usually put my pics into a slide show format and the clarity with using that medium can't be beat!! I'll fix it tomorrow for you guys and Thanks again!!

Seeing as how those weights generally sell for $75-100 EACH, USED, I'd say you scored one heck of a deal! And even a Deere lover like me has to say that they would look better 'Bota orange.

I say let the G/F decide and do the painting. Kinda sounds like its her tractor now anyway. ROF :trink40:

Dean,
Nice find, those weights should help with mowing the slopes.
I don’t use added weight in the summer, only for winter duty.
Any time I’ve added weight to the tractor it’s always the third
thing added.
First is filling the tires with 50 / 50 solution.
Next is adding wheel weights like you are doing.
Last is adding weight to the frame.

Don’t forget to tell GF to mow the slopes up hill / down hill.
Side slop mowing is not so safe and tractors don’t handle much
of a grade in reverse.

If you want to paint the implement I can get you the JD paint.
Yep, I think an orange/white paint job would look better...

I'm thinkin' Kubota black or grey. Which ever color the trim paint is. The wheels should be one of these colors too, shouldn't they?

This Kubota TG1860 Diesel is a '98 model and has cream colored wheels!
Starting in 2003 (I think) all Kubota T&G Tractors started using a Dark Grey color! Part # 70000-73352
Because of your good suggestion I bought some today (needed to touch up the Rops on my 7510 {light mountings} anyway.) So not only will I have color matched wheel weights but gain 5 model years in the process!!
In you honor I'll leave the JD Insigina and post a pic when finished!
Thanks,
Dean
