I have a lot of strange and rare objects; so while they are collecting dust I decided to make a game of it and see if you can name that object!!!!!!
Look at the pictures and tell me what it is!
Can you tell me what it is used for?

Do thumb knobs just hold front cover..?? How about a top view..?? Br,
Wingnut
12-11-2005, 09:37 PM
Top view would give it away, it has to be level, You can see two Leveling knobs and to shield clamps (brass knobs).
Telegraph companies use them for calibration before they became obsolete.
The are rare because of the metals (gold, copper, brass) when scrapped they went to the smelter.

Your $1,000,000 is being carefully invested in old and little known instruments, and in tractor renovations.

Think of it as an early version of a voltmeter or ammeter....
It couldn't tell you a measurement, but that electricity was there.

It measure the presents of electricity. It could no tell you amps or volts it was primative, it was used to calibrate Telegraph lines every 15 miles you had to have a telegraph station or repeater, Wires were not created equal then so you used a galvanometer to check electrical pulse through the lines.

Galen your uncle might have retrieved out of an airplane, but it was never part of an airplane. Any vibration would give a false reading and it had to be level in order for it to work. It very sensative and fragle if I were you I would try to get uncles!
