Hey Guys,

Well, snow is here so I guess I have to get serious. The snow blower doesn't work very good with 540 pto, needs a step up so that has been shelved 'til next summer. I had a brain storm and have decided to modify a Meyers plow to fit on my 3 point. I grabbed an 11 hole cat 1 drawbar today. I am going to bolt it to the a frame on the plow. Then all I need to do is make the top link connection and I am in business! :fing32:

The 2N should push backwards just fine with the loaded rears and chains, that leaves me with the loader on the front to push up banks.

Meyer's plows orinally deigned to work on p/u trucks, right--same brand???

That should work fine Stumpy! Get those flakes coming and going.

If memory serves me you have an unpaved driveway. So I have a suggestion. Only other thing to consider is to replace the skid plates with heavy duty caster wheels. That way you will not kick the driveway material around.

A big advantage of the plow on the back, if you start to spin out, just lifting it slightly will give you a bunch more traction.

Hey Carl, you are half right. Half of the drive is paved and half is gravel. Once the ground is frozen it's not bad as far as moving the material around. The skid shoes will be set high, I don't mind the snow on "my" side of the drive, I have the loader to scrape down Michelle's paved side :fing32: The blade is a bunch more efficiant than the loader at moving the bulk of the snow, but my yard is small enough that a plow on a truck is very cumbersome to manuever.

Glen, yes the plow in the picture actually came off of a Jeep CJ-7, I have the push plates down back and hope to set it up as a front mount on my 850 for next winter, too many projects! :bonk:

Old Nadaker, that's a very true statement! I hope to have a bit of extra weight slung under the tractor, bu we'll see!

Got the plow together today :bannana: , nice to get at least one project useable(moldboard repair and paint next summer).

I tried it out a bit and like the results, I do need to take up on the tension springs a little bit though.

I took a couple of pics for you guys to see the hitch I made to go on my 3 point.

I am leaving the cylinders on, hopefully won't lose them that way ROF . Right now I have apin in so I can manually angle the blade. The six foot seems to be a good size for the tractor

I never thought I would be saying this, but, come on give me a snow storm now! :fing20:

Looks nice!! I had a front blade on my N and I HATED it!!!! No traction, and steered REAL hard. Best thing I did was remove it!

Will the bars leading out to the plow hold up to the pushing? It's hard to tell from the pictures but it seems like if you catch on a rock or bump or something it might do some damage.

I took a closer look at the pictures. The A frame looks strong. It's the 3 point hitch connections that look like they might twist or fold under reverse thrust.

It's hard to tell from the pictures. I guess you'd have to be the judge of that since you know the machine and metal you have there.

THe pushing shouldn't be a problem, the plow trips before the tractor runs out of power. Also there are actually 4 bars there. THe lower lift arms of the hitch, and 2 stabilizer bars that go out to the axle brackets under the fenders. I wouldn't want to be doing any heavy excavation, but it is like having a box blade mounted. They also have a rear facing cutting edge.

We shall see :fing32:
