Wife wants to be able to tow with her Jeep.God knows what...but she wants a reciever for Christmas and ...Hey!!...I get to weld.
Measured the rough distance between the frame mounts and started welding.Got the reviever tube welded to the cross bar and got the safety chain gussets all welded in and not lookin' too bad.
THEN....I realised that half of 38" overall is not 14"!!! :fing20:

Too funny...Last month I sleeved two 30" long X 1" O.D. sections for the base of my 4' wide root rake! WHAT was I thinking?? :trink39: This is the kind of information I wouldn't have volunteered if I hadn't read your post.

When we were forming up wheel chair ramps, my wife told me the required width was 40". Made the forms 41 1/2" wide to make sure we were safe. Come to finding out - AFTER the concrete was placed - her 40" was ACUALLY "3 feet 6 inches". DOH! :fing20:

Yeah, i built a really nice aluminum handicapped scooter ramp for my wife! I had figured to also build an angled stand from wood, because the front walk angles out to the driveway. I had the ramp long enough to not have any hang-ups.
but, mu dear wife, being the mechanical engineer that she is, told me she didn't want that angled wood extension on the front of the porch, so, i did away with it. then the ramp was too long to fit straight out because it was on the walk! GRRR!!
So, shortened it some. When we tried the scooter, it hung up on both ends! RATTS!! The roll over wheels on the back got stuck on the ground, and it wouldn't go up! I wanted to remove them, but the engineer said no--they are there for a purpose! (Haven't figured that out yet, because anybody sitting on the machine would keep it on the ground!
Then, our builder friend who lives next door asked what I was trying to do, so i told him! Guess what he said!! "When things get slow, i'll send some of my men down here, and they will build an angled ramp so you won't obstruct the walkway!"
Guess who is in favor of that!
GGRRRR!! Rustyj
