I have a hinomoto E15 and it is a great little tractor. Wondering if there were any other hino owners out there and what experiances you have had? I thought I would regret buying it because they were an out of business company. But I love the little tractor. It has done everything I need and still continues to amaze me with what I can accomplish with a little diesel horse power. :fing32:

Any other grey market owners want to come out of the closet? :Tractor2:

First :Welcome1: aboard.

There are several gray market owners on the forum, myself included. One of our members and sometime poster, Ernie from Ernie's Import has a Hinomoto but likely to be different, it's a 2 seater, side by side.

Welcome!!

I beleive that they made a few of the compacts for US brand tractors also.

Welcome!!

Pauls right! Hinomoto made some models for Allis Chalmers, Massey Ferguson and Simplicity.

Greg,

I'am afraid some take it as boring and repetative posts when I show pictures and tell stories. For instance; I just finished my last YM1610D with the exact same FEL set up. Even the same Howse 4' boxblade. It is nearly identical to the one I delivered a few months ago...so to take pictures and post them is really redundant. The one I delivered I discounted because the new owner didn't want the boxblade as he has a 4' bush hog rotary cutter.

This Ym1610D I plan to keep...I know I always say that, but I really like the size and power with the FEL for my personal use on the 2 acres. I gave my dad the 1601D, because he runs into trees allot (bad eyesight) :), And I still have and use the 1300D, 1401D for tilling and MF 1020 for other stuff.

Nay, Mark....never boring to see some of the beautiful tractors you have/had, and hear about them. I'm sure there are many, like myself, that wish we had enough property and the need/budget to get one. Thanks for posting them.

Great to hear of the others that have them and enjoy them. My tractor originally had a 2 point hitch for the 52" tiller that it came with, then I modified it and added a 3 pt system to it. Next is building and adding a Front end loader and a Backhoe to the other implements I have and continue to make progress. I bought Plans from CDP-backhoe and Cad designs plus and they are very detailed and easy to follow.

I need to find a place to get filters and such for the tractor. It uses SAE 30 oil, but the filter that came on the tractor was painted silver, but I will continue that process. Would have liked to have a 4wd tractor, but this one was sold to me at less than $1900 with tiller and I have used the snot out if it with no trouble.

Everyone in my family says that they like the kubotas and John Deeres, but mine cranks everytime and has served me well for the price that they would use as a downpayment on the other brands. I may need a bigger tractor in the future, but I will stick with the grey markets like Yanmar and such if I need one.

CJ, where you located?

Be patient someone may be able to help with the filter #'s. Is the straight wt oil you use rated for diesel service?

I live in Beebe Arkansas,

On the oil. I haven't changed the oil yet. I'm ordering the Massey Ferguson book that covers the 205 model which is supposed to be the American version of that tractor. I'm hoping it will give me some numbers for the filter. I don't think I have run it long enough to change the oil yet. It was changed at the shop from where I bought it prioir to selling it. But then the shop owner died and the shop closed. So I can't use them anymore.

You had me fooled. :fing32:

My monster in law has an 8N that they can't run. It has the 6 volt electrical system and they put a 12 volt GM alternator on it and keep burning out coils and points every time they try to run it. Then wonder why I won't let them use my tractor. :fing20:

I have tried to tell them to add the resistor to the system and they won't listen to me because I don't know what I'm talking about. Even went out and found a manual on how to make the change to the system but her new husband has completely destroyed the wiring on it and he can't fix it. So he squirts ether in the exhaust to get it started and runs it till it kills another point. :banghead3

Any way, the 8n was what I was looking at in the beginning because I wanted to put the v8 mod into it. But I fell in love with my hino. Not a v8 or a heavy ford, but theres always that option later if I change my mind.

CJ , You need a resistor mounted in line to cut the volts , also there is a 12 volt coil for the 12 volt eyetem. The resistor will keep the points from cooking , if you are running a 12 volt Batt. then You should have a coil to go with it. oh,, theres a 12 volt coil even for the front mount distributer

Yep, I have preached and preached and they will not listen to me about it. It even still has the 6 volt battery on it and he is charging the battery like it is a 12. Believe me, I have tried, but this is just one of the many dangerous and not so bright things I have seen him do.

Don't get me wrong, I like the guy, but he just doesn't listen to anyone. I guess I will have to make the changes as a christmas present. It will ot happen any other way.

CJ,

You have any pictures of your Hinomoto? Alway thought the E15 and 150 were good looking tractors.

ironhat
11-13-2005, 09:48 PM
Yea, CJ, we need pics! Secondly, forget about the Christmas present conversion on the tractor. He will only see it as an insult and an intrusion (*don't* ask me ow I know!). Also, how did any of you gray owners determine what your Hin (or other) cross matched? I'm researching grays in general and the big drawback is parts, of course. I've heard that some dealers treat you like you have a disease when you try to get them to help with a cross-match.Thanks,
Chiz

I'll take some new pics of her in the morning and post them. Also, on the Cross, I have just posted about the tractor on some yahoo news groups and some people that import Greys responded. I verified that by looking at some older massey units and they are for the most part identical. So I feel confident that I can find parts. I just have to tell them it is a Massey to get service. Besides, the fun part of working is fixing and modifying for me.

I will probably steer clear of the fix on the 8n though. I may go another route. Like buy it from him instead and then I can fix it and use it as needed.

Why not go to NAPA for the filters and tell them it is for a MF 205 and get those filters. They will look them up and give you the correct filters. I have a friend that has a Kubota L1801 and looks identical to my Kubota L185 except the engine is slightly more powerful and he uses the same exact filters to my tractor.

cjdavis618
11-14-2005, 10:24 AM
I have thought about that, but I want to be 100% sure that the 205 is the match for me. I will know that for sure once my shop manual comes in for it and I have time to compare them.

Also, I did go get the pictures of the tractor. It rained the night before so the picture is very dull. Also there is a bracket on the front that I had test fitted to start making a wieght box and bumper from, but I didn't make it heavy enough. So that will change. I just didn't take it off before the picture.

I added pictures of my 3pt system. I fought with this tractor for a while not having stabilizer chains and that was a pain. So I looked at other tractors and found that I needed the hitch pins and the stabilizers on the same center plane so I made a 3pt bracket out of 4x4x3/8" steel angle then set 2x2x1/4" on there for the hitch pins then made my own 3pt bracket. I bolted it on at first but the bracket still shifted. So I lined it up and welded it to the existing 2pt. I still have the use of my 2pt tiller and my 3pts with very little work to change over.

Here are the pics I promised.

Maybe you shouldn't have posted the pics, cj. Now, I might have to hate ya! Nice rig - you do good work.

It has paid for me to seed several forums on this site. I'm getting a lot of info and some pretty close sources of used CUTs

cjdavis618

Thanks Ironhat, I appreciate that. The 3pt bracket was the very first thing I ever welded. I practiced a little bit before I put the bracket together. The main bracket of the 3 pt is actually 3 different peices of the same stock. It had been cut already laying at a scrap yard and I peiced them back together with the welder and some 7014 rods. Then I mounted the 1/4" brackets on there as well.

The alternative to what I made was to pay $500 and $90 shipping for the original brackets that fit the tractor. And I only found one place that had it naturally he wanted a premium. This was my $10 solution. Since we don't count the cost of the tools to make these improvements that is. :fing02: Which happened to be the 225 amp arc welder, the Metal cutting bandsaw and a plasma cutter just in case.

I hope to have the same success with the loader and the backhoe I'm about to start.

Nice looking little Hinomoto. Don't know how much you might need one but I would keep an eye open for a reg adjustable link you normally see on the right lift link. Sure makes adjmt easy when needed. You might be able to rescue one from a dealer that has a number of part's tractors or parts laying around.

Looks like your tractor is set up for a 2 pt tiller. They are not too hard to locate at your local gray market tractor dealer for a reasonable price.

cjdavis618

I've looked around the local tractor places and they have them for sale for about $30. But If I need one bad enough, I can buy a cat 0 toplink and make the bracket for the bottom for less than $20 for the whole thing. I know that takes time and effort. But that is what makes this addiction fun. :fing32:

Thanks for the tip, but I actually got the 2pt tiller with the tractor when I bought it. I do need to locate a few replacement tines as some are a little worn. But beyond that, I have just about everything I need for it.

So far I have the 24" pond scoop, 4ft bushhog, 4ft Boxblade, Middlebuster/subsoiler combo, drawbar, 4ft grader blade and a 52" tiller.

Still need a 3pt auger 6-9", boom pole (Making), Carryall (making that too) and then I want to buy a large seed spreader. (The Smart farmer looks to be my choice based on shipping costs.)

Then the Backhoe and FEL will round out my tractor implements.
