My neighbor had an old Alice Rotary hoe that has been sitting for about 25 years. He's trying to clean up around his place and I have been over trying to help out. Yesterday, we decided to take the old hoe apart so he could scrap it. He told me I could keep any of it I wanted for helping. I brought home a 6' section that is complete, two 4 foot sections of "teeth" and the three other frames. I need to add a three point to it, otherwise it is ready to use - amazingly, all but 2 of the teeth still turn. :bannana: I plan on using one of the extra frames to modify an old drag disc I pulled out of the weeds into a 3 point. Any ideas for the other two frames?

They would make nice tool bars for just about any thing. Perhaps a hiller if you planted potatoes or a specialized cultivator.

Hang on to them. Even if you don't have an immediate idea, one will surely surface. Just the iron can be cut and used on another project! thanks; sonny

Yeah - I'll hang onto them for awhile, until the warden tells me to clean up my cell! :hide:

I got a similar deal on an old rotary hoe several years ago. It was 7 ft wide and I split it up into two sections of 3.5 ft each and just pull one behind the garden tractor. Makes a great spike aerator. I paid the guy $5 for the whole thing and sold one of the sections for $50 this summer. does alot better job than a single row aerator my neighbor has. just gotta be careful to not go over an area too much or you'll tear up the grass. :bonk:

I think I will use one to hold a small tine harrow. The same neighbor is giving me a 15 shank sub-sioler also! Just think of the possibilities! :trink40: Now all I have to come up with is some tubing, strap and angle iron to build 3 point hitches with!

Is the 15 shank thing a chisel plow? If so can you tell what brand? I use a 15 shank chisel plow, that is an old grhame-hame(not spelled right but, it has not been a good day) and if it's like mine, a lot of good heavy stuff in there! thanks; sonny

Yeah - some people call them a chisel plow! I don't know what make it is but, like you say, there is a LOT of good heavy stuff in it.

You can take the old rotary tine wheels and paint them up to look like a Sun Flower. Then take a piece of pipe about 1 and 1/2'' and say 4 ft long.Weld a bolt on the top and atack the time wheel to it.Then if you have any broken tines.Turn them sideways and weld them to the pipe to look like leaves. You then have a piece of lawn junk women like and will pay you for at the Craftshows.Thgey look OK in a garden also.
