Does anyone have experience with this agri-fab box scraper blade?

Just wondering how well it works with the GT.

I have the same one. What would you like to know?
It works good on loosened soil and gravel. It's strong enough to hold a few cement blocks. You can angle it 45* right or left. You can turn it around to back fill and angle it the same 45* left or right in the reverse position. You can remove the scarifier and or side plates and use it as a rear grader blade.

It will be a little heavy to lift manually with the weight on it. It won't really cut hard packed soil that well. You can shave off the high spots, but it will usually need more than one pass.

For the $$ it's a decent attachment. Not all that difficult to assemble. Takes up alot of storeage room. It's also the same one sold as "craftsman" at sears so shop around alittle.

I have the one from Brinly and personally don't care for it. I bought it for driveway maintenance and never had any success with it. The side plates bent off from it. Maybe I was demanding to much from it.

I purchased one of these and have been completely satisfied with it.

It's also available in a box scraper.

I use one for collecting meadow muffins and it works well for that. Any more demanding things and it takes a few passes or some cement blocks or both. Like Sixchows says.

I have the Brinly model also. I agree with SixChows comments. First time I used it as a box scraper with the bar and weight it nearly ripped apart. Since then the bar and sides have come off and just use it as a blade. Works well if your scraping lighter stuff.

If you put weight on it and use it for any length of time, you'll be looking for an electric lift! Rory

Thanks six chows... you pretty much covered it.

I need something for driveway maintenance (lime rock and gravel) and for leveling some spots out back. Most of my property is still sandy with small weeds. I would think this would work pretty good for that. Also some light back filling of a large hole.

The fact that it pulls apart concerns me. Would I be better off just getting the grader blade???? Since the sides almost pull off.

Also was looking at the rock rake...are the tines sturdy enough to roughly level off some sandy dirt, or do they have some give to them?

Let me throw a disclaimer out there. I was "probably" using it beyond its capabilities. I had wieghts and the digger bar(not sure of its name) attached. It really dug in and pulled up alot of dirt that was too much for the box. Rory

The one you're looking at is made by agri-fab. The one described by wanna be farmer as fallling apart is made by brinly.
Brinly usually has well built attachments although they are nothing like they used to be years ago.
I think the agri-fab unit would work well for what you describe. Remember to keep an eye on what you are doing and if you see things bending or looking as if they are about to "fall apart", rethink the proceedure! Maybe there is too much weight on it, maybe you're catching tree stumps, etc.

Thank you all for the input. It's good to hear the good and bad of both brands. I think this one will be a go.

not trying to change your mind.. but i thought id mention, one of our site advertisers: Nick at www.thesmartfarmer.com (http://www.thesmartfarmer.com) may sell them for GT's also... could be worth a try checking with him to see what he has or sells...
i know he does mostly stuff for bigger tractors but it could be worth an email...

Argee, who manufactured the landscape (rock) rake that you have in the pictures?

there's another leveling tool (use the term "tool" loosely) called a drag...old timers used to make them out of a doz. 8-10' oak planks...I have one that's an old air conditioning compressor mount made of 2 parallel pieces of 6-8" channel (facing down, not at each other) spaced 6" inside dimension the thing is about 6' long weighs more than I want to lift and does a remarkable job on dirt and stone alike. weighted or not...the space between it acts like a box scraper collection/storage point, and it can be used flat channel backs down for smoothing or channel angles down for digging...acting like 4 blade tips.

My 2 cents. If you are planning on doing leveling then get the scraper/box blade/ grader that is mounted on wheels like the pictures that Argee showed.
