Also weights and chains.

You can see the mound of dirt I'm moving - real heavy so I only move about a 1/2 bucket at a time.

Is that a YTH or a GT??

It's a GT 26 Briggs. The extra weight on the front has to be off set with the weight in the back. The wheel weights and chains made a huge difference. Still, with all the extra weight, sure handles differently.

I don't think I would recommend mounting one on a LT, unless the plan was to use it for real lite work or if Johnny made a lighter dump.

only down side is, I wish I could get another 6 inches in height

Great looking setup poconosms1 :congrats: . A half a bucket at a time still beats the heck out of a wheelbarrow and a shovel.

And saves the pain of a back ache.

My wife tells everyone it's nothing more than a toy. However, she won't offer to use a shovel and wheel barrow

I agree, beats moving by hand unless you need the exercise. I move around 1-2T at a time with the FEL on the 5520 and still takes a few min for a 25T load.

I brought up your thread so as not to steal the other guy's thread. Anyway, you said you were only scooping up half a bucket because the material was so heavy. I too have a JBJr and have gotten a couple of guys here where I live to get them too. It is our experience that the JBJr is designed so that even if you pick up a full bucket of material no matter what it is that you can't pick up too much. In other words, the bucket will not hold enough weight to overload/tax the tractor. Now of course I am talking about rocks, gravel, Class II (gravel with dirt mixed in) and all the other regular things found around a house/homestead.

This is my set-up -- Craftsman GT5000 with JBJr.

I do not have any extra weight on the rear of my tractor and I inflate the front tires 5 PSI over that recommended in the Owner's Manual. I do at times have a rear grader blade mounted to my sleeve hitch when plowing snow and maintaining my road and driveways but I have not noticed any difference in tractor handling with or without the rear grader blade mounted.

I could only pick up 1/2 load because of the type of dirt - electric co was retrenching the development - dirt was wet clay, dirt, gravel, and 1 foot rocks. With the chains, wieghts, and my frame, the tractor could not make it up a slight incline. Level ground was fine. Also, the steering "feel" signifcantly changed if I added more.

How much were the tires. I'm thinking of upgrading myself.

I got my AG tires from Les Schwab Tires and paid $55.00 each. That was the price for the tires along with mounting. Cedar Rapids Tire is another place to get them. Go to the top of the page and click on the Search Button and type in "AG Tires" and several threads about these type of tires should come up.

Speaking of Johnny Buckets, I see Sears has their own version in the stores now. Its a lighter weight bucket, but about the same design. They have control arms coming up on each side of the tractor. One to lift and the other to dump. they had one on display in their Galeburg Illinois store mounted on a Lt. $400 price tag.

Here's the Sears bucket on my Husky. I'm in the process of making a tooth bar for it.

Yep, they have a grader/snow blade but it is strictly a hand-operated model.
