As requested in my woodworking thread I have some shop pictures that I'm happy to share...

and lastly ....for now, every shop needs a shop dog. Here is mine stretched out on the kitchen floor. She loves to chew on my wood scraps in the shop....my AKC yellow lab Honey-Behr.

Looks like a great shop to work in. Are you building the cabinets for yourself or to sell?

JDA,

Very, very nice. Norm Abraham's got nothing on you and would be proud. I'm jealous of the size of your shop. My woodshop is the smallest room in my home (my basement is finished) and it really can be a challenge with some projects. Here are some pics of one I'm kind of proud of (it's both metal and wood, and I made every part on it including the weathervane):

The cabinets in the above pictures was for this job...a custom built bar for American Legion post 42.
But I do custom kitchens and furniture as part of my income. I build custom homes and sometimes my customers want a custom kitchen or a special piece of furniture so I am able to accomodate their needs.

JDFanatic....nice work yourself!

And we had our (business)name laser engraved into the raised panel maple facade...doesn't show up very well but it is an American legion symbol and the words "Bar custom built by..........July 4, 2005."

Sorry this is getting away from shop pics.

Okay, I'll explain. The first one is a Cherry disc that was laser engraved with the American Legion logo, we put that in the bar top flush (inlaid) with the surface. It just added a little pizzaz to the actual bar surface.

The second picture, although not really a good one, shows how we made the facade above the bar which was a series of raised panels to match the doors behind the bar. This was all made of solid maple and we had one of the panels engraved with the words "Bar custom built by, insert business name here,(mine) and then July 4, 2005.
Each individual panel could be removed and additional engraving done at a later time if they want to.

Did some searching to better explain the second picture in JDFANATIC question. This is the center raised panel for the facade above the bar.

JDA,

I just signed on and now the pics are coming through -- not sure what was going on earlier, anyway, that laser engraving is superb and very well defined as is the selection of woodgrains! Nice job!

Cheers

Thanks for the compliment, I got a little more serious when I was able to start making some real $$$$ out of that shop.

Now that I've sat at that bar in person, I really appreciate it's craftsmanship.

Our local American Legion post, however does not require guest sign in. Anyone can walk in off the street, sit down and buy a drink. I confirmed that this past weekend.
