HI Bear, that number isn't showing up in my serial# lists at all. According to my book, Super MDs didn't show up until 1952, and the serial# prefix on the chassis tag should be SMD or SMDL (the L would mean it was built at the Louisville Kentucky plant) The Farmall works SMDs would start at serial#501, and the Louisville tractors at 500001. Plain (non-super) Ms only went to 298218. Any chance that the tag was mis-read or doctored??
i'll have another look maybe try to see if i can get a pic of the tag got an auction to go to this morning so it may not happen today. thanks for the reply
doesn't look like the tag was doctored
must have lost some clarity in the upload the number is definatly F- 30593 J

OK, serial# makes it a '53 Farmall works tractor (Chicago). The J I think means it has an "Auburn" brand clutch. I'll have to check that a little further.

J indicates a Rockford clutch.
