Nice looking tractors..Looks like they sit rather low in the seats too...that must be a MF trait.

They do sit low which gives you better control on steep sidehill angles when bladeing or hogging... As soon as I know when we are getting these I will run one w/ the box blade and see how well it performs.....

I got to say, I have looked at a lot of the MF line, and I realy like those 1400 series tractors. Good mix of feachers, but still not to frilly, and pricy. Unfortanly still out of my price range, but if I had the money to spend for a new brand name tractor, that would be my first stop.

Are all the 1400's gear drive? I know the ones I have seen are. Always kinda suprised the MF's are not as popular as the other brands. As I said, from what I have looked at the 1400's would be perfect for me, and I assume others also.

Paul, I just got my first look at the shiney new MF1455. It is a lot bigger than I thought it would be... I guess it being a compact and all.... well I guess that applies but this has 55 hp and quite quiet.. They were putting on a disc to see what it had... I couldn't stay for the show but I will get my turn gaurrrantee :fing32:

Tau44, this is hearsay that this one w/ std shft and a quad remote in the front and rear also a dual side remote and dont ask cause I have no idea what the side remotes are used for, but getting back to #s it was said that between 12900 to 13500.... No attachments other than the remote hyds

Well I finally got about two hrs of play time on the massey 1455.. I used it with a box blade to ready a commons ground area for sod.. This is the first time I have been on a MF compact... Totally different than a full size utility.. It took the first 15-20 minutes to get a handle on the 3point control as it was much faster that most of our 243s and 263s.. was loving the flat work platform for ease of back blading next to a foundation as the movement was effortless.. This is a basic tractor w/ps and no shuttleshift???? Makes one wonder where the buyers that be have their heads... It doesn't sound like most Masseys because its 4 cyls. It took some time to get the foot throttle contrl down as the engine was a higher rpm diesel and so quiet it would take off like a bat ooh.
Lots of power very agile handling compared to the 240s we have... Overall I liked the little Massey but it sure did not sound as good as the Perkins diesel engines that I am accustomed to.. Only draw back is to many ranges in the transmission...in my opinion....

No shuttle shift? That's the one thing I wish I had for loader work. How many speeds and ranges?

I wonder how the Massey compares to the new Montana tractors that I have seen advertised.

Argee, it has 4 forward and 2 reverse in 3 ranges and low felt as if it was the same as the midrange.. another thing was reverse as it had 6 possibilities??? Why... Still a very strong little tractor.. was impressive and was quieter than the 3 bangers I am around all the time.

I wish I could answer that question for you... This is the first true compact utility Massey that I have been on.... iIf the prices were the same or even a 1000-2000 more I would go w/ the Massey as their reputation is a strong long life tractor.. We just retired a full size utility 240 4x4 w over 14000 hrs and still starts and runs albeit a little noisier , its still a workable tractor..
