As alot of you guys know, I play alot of sports to stay healthy (now that I am much smaller than a year ago). My latest kick has been playing modified fastpitch softball.
I play leftfield and some catcher for my team. On monday night (I play in a fall ball league), I was playing in left. One guy on the other team hit a ball in the left center gap that I made a diving catch on, but I landed funny and felt and heard a popping noise in my left arm. I got up and threw the ball back in...no problem.
I am up to bat third in the next inning and my left arm is really achy. I figure it just the way I landed. I get up to bat and as always, I swing for the fences and hear the pop again (IT WASN'T THE BALL UNFORTUNATELY). I hit the ball in the gap, but I barely make it to first base because of the pain. I get a pinch runner and get pulled from the game. :beatdeadh :beatdeadh
I went to the Dr. on Tuesday afternoon and he confirmed it was a dislocated shoulder. I am in a sling til the the 7th and no swinging til AT least the 14th.
Kinda bummed out, but at least we are in the midseason break right now and our next game isn't until the 15th. We play til around Christmas. Even if it snows, they have a blower that cleans the field allowing us to play!!!
My stats for this season were my best of the three seasons of this year. We play in a spring warm-up league (we were 1-9), a summer league (22-10) and our fall league (6-1 so far). My batting average and HR has increased from .512 and 2 HR (spring), .745 and 24 HR (summer) and .735 and 8 HR (fall league).
I was always a pretty good contact hitter, but I bought a new composite bat that has increase my avg. distance on a fly ball by AT LEAST 25-30 ft. That's why my HR are so many more after spring ball. The bat is called a Miken Freak 98. It is a awesome softball bat (for $259 it should hit the ball by itself). Our team has been steadily getting much better. No more stupid errors, no more bad pitching. We are taking it WAY TOO seriously now!!! :trink40: :trink40: :trink40:
I just can't wait to get out and play again.
