Hi- I saw someone was on here last week talking about using synthetic oil in various things. I , myself have just started using Amsoil motor oil in a Toyota Tacoma p/u, and so far am pleased. Down the road i will probably start using it in more applications. If anyone has any plus/neg. thoughts on this product, let me know. My long term goal (in a few years is to retire to the s/western coast of Fla., and I would like to become a dealer, just to have something to kick around with.) Any other good ideas???
Tks-

A lot of foreign cars and trucks strongly recommend synthetics. Toyota has a problem with their 3.0L V6 building up sludge with some dino oils. A few other manufacturers also have that problem with small engines that put out a lot of power for their size. Their seems to be a consensus that the break-in of any engine should be done with dino oil. The only exception I'm aware of is Saab, especially on their turbo boosted motors. From everything I've read about synthetics, you can't go wrong. Just remember that you still have to change the oil regularly!

Glenn,
Your Taco will do extremely well on Amsoil. Toyota engines also produce outstanding results using Mobil 1 synthetics. Toyota did have a problem with sludging in some V-6's (combination of small passages and high head temps). However the engines in question were in 97-01 Lexus ES300, Avalon, Camary, Sienna, 99 to 01 RX300, Camary Solara, and 2001 Highlander. Toyota offered an extended warranty to those engines. You're Taco shouldn't be affected by it.

You might start by becoming an Amsoil Preferred Customer (big discounts for the $20 annual fee). It makes the price equal to or less than most M1 products purchased in Wal-Mart. I sell to some neighbors and friends.

Mike C. Have already done the preferred customer thing. Good part is Amsoil has a regional distr. center here in town-i can go directly there, and pickup. Bad news is the man who I started buying from is retiring, and movinmg out of state in a few weeks. What I'm trying to find out, is how many dealers, etc. will Amsoil let be in one geographical area? Still cruzin' websites looking for info
Tkxs. for the shout!!
