Since I am going to replace the turf type tires, and done some checks locally for the tires, which resulted in nothing around here readily available, and would have to order them, I decided I would order them on line and save the high tax we pay on stuff here and not have to deal with the local places. BUT I would like to see images of tread patterns, that have been mentioned by others in another post I made and also of other patterns available. So does anyone have a link to any online L & G tire dealers that may have images of tires tread patterns, as well as GOOD prices and are reliable to deal with?

I know at one time on "that other Tractor forum that used to exist" someone had posted a link to a site that showed all the various tread patterns.

The AG's did a real good job on my 425 and never had to use chains in the winter and were easy on the grass. Gives you plenty of traction and the ride aint bad. The best tire I've found has been the HDAP I got with my X series Deere. I wouldn't trade these tires for anything. Just as good if not better traction than the AG's, better ride, easier on the grass and don't need chains in the winter. Don't know the cost of these HDAP's but I sure would consider them. slkpk

I have a combination tire...the Carlisle Stryker....it's a mud and snow ATV tire. The one thing I like about it as that the tread is not so aggressive that it leaves its impressions in the lawn. The tire does very well in the mud...and snow I might add, but that's not a requirement for you'all :D

I think I am going to go with the Carlisle/Tital AT 101 tires.

Those that use the ATV type tires are there any losses in floatation since it appears they have a much narrower profile (rounded shoulders) as compared to more squared off shoulders typical on turf tires and other lug type? I guess lugs will not really do as much damage when cutting grass when you get down to it as I thought it may, like simply turning a larger tractor with rib type tires on the front does to the grass...Now if I could only find my missing traction assist.....

I went with Tucker tires off of Ebay for my rear Ag's on my 224. They are an off brand import, but seem well made, and insted of the posted 4ply, they are 6ply. I tell you, you almost dont need any air at all in them. Price was REAL good. they are like 90 something with shipping for the pair.

They're not chrome...Just sprayed em with Krylon Rust Tough "aluminum" paint. Even up close, they almost look like chrome.

I don't think it's a problem. You can see where it rides on a firm surface and spreads out to the nubs wgen it gets soft.

I've looked at the ATV tires. Only thing that has to be watched is the load rating. I have industrial tires on my MTD (BobCat) tires. Some of the ATV have a much more aggresive tread. Would be nice and I could take the chains off. Only tractor has something like 250 pounds on the back tires without any implements. Figure my disk weighs around 400 and I am overweight.

Just be careful of the load ratings for them.

Agree
interesting tread on those, but it looks like it narrows the contact from 10" to about 6". I put AGs on mine and they have a full 10" width footprint when you keep the pressure right...you get less contact if you up the pressure to make them balloon.

Carl
AGs do what chains do. I run mine year-round with weights with minimal trauma to the sod...not really a problem at all. for 20X10 Carlisle I paid $40 per.

Good Point modre....I believe I only have about 8 - 10 LBS in them...I'll have to check it again.
