Hi Guys, new to the site and the world of GT.
funny story
I had a couple of old craftsman, and was sick of fixing the slipping trans. I walked into sears and on my budget, purchased a DLT3000 (18hp B&S). Sears saleman lied and delivery service were jerks, so I cancelled on the spot.

I was checking out a few places, and found a used Husky GHT2654 (B&S) at Lowes with 80 hours. At the time it retailed at 3k. I got it for 1,100. With the difference in savings and my budget, I picked up a 3year extend warrenty Johnny Bucket Jr with auto lift and teeth, chains, and weights. Before I picked up the tractor, I called the repair shop prior owner raged over the kill switch in the seat even thought the repair shop had replaced it several times. Lowes even gave me a warrenty as if it had zero hours.

I have 1 &1/4 acres in the mountains - stone driveway and a huge pile of dirt. Wooded lot.

I have a push mower to handle my septic field (takes me 20min to mow), but I thought before I drop the deck, I would mow my lawn just to say I used it once. Believe it or not, I could not mow my field because I could not get the tractor to the field because of uneven ground, trees and boulders that surround the field. (I could have driven through my wifes flowers, but I'm not ready for a divorce).

Now I'm waiting for my Johnny bucket to arrive so I can start my serious projects.

Welcome to the forum! Glad to hear of the sweet deal you got on your tractor. Sorry to hear of the bad experience at Sears, I've had some good experiences at Sears and some bad... as it works out for me, I don't shop there too often because it is not close by or convenient. There are several threads here by Johnny bucket owners that show what a good product it is, and what kinds of projects they have been used on. Most are in the Craftsman forum. (your tractor is a clone of a Craftsman, both made by AYP)

Welcome...and nice work on the purchase.
I haven't been a big fan of lowes until I got my husqvarna. I thought I got a good deal there (1500 for a 22/54), you got an awesome deal. I'm sure you'll love the tractor; I've been amazed at the cutting ability, 5th gear in thick grass and doesn't even phase the machine.

Good luck accessorizing the new ride!

do you ever have a problem with backfiring?

I beginning to think that maybe my uneven yard (some steep areas) cause the gas level in the float to change.

:Welcome1: Welcome poconosms1,
Do you mean it back fires when your shutting it down? On mine you drop the throttle to the lowest setting before you turn off the key. Hope you enjoy the Johnny bucket. Sounds like your going to have all kinds of fun. :bannana:

sometimes it's when I've been driving 3/4 others when it's at the lowest setting. Happens when I'm going down a hill

Never had a backfire...however if you don't shut down with throttle between low and high this can cause the backfire. Depends on the engine I guess. Like I said 1/2 way everytime (briggs engine) and hasn't backfired yet.

more details on the back firing. It does not happen all the time, but when it does, it's at any speed. I've noticed it starts when going down hill, which I just attribute to gravity trying to make the trans go faster. Yesterday, I drove up a long incline and when it reached the a flat area - it started, and then continued to do so until I drove back to my garage.

Could it be a mixture problem?
