Well went to check out the MF65 I have meen thinking about, but it sold. :fing20:
Good thing, is they have just gotten in a MF50 WITH a loader! Nice tractor. Tin is REAL stright. Runs good, steering seems tight. Anything to look for? It has a MF loader that runs off the lift pump, and wile slow, seem to work real well. Its a one owner tractor, sold new out of the same dealer.
Any thing to keep an eye on on the 50's?

I will need to pull out some of my Lit but I think this tractor came out in the same time frame as the 65 Just a bit small power plant. I know that there was a Massey Harris 50 was the same tractor as the Fergie 40 but had different shaped sheet metal and of course the Fergie was white instead of Massey red. I think the MHF 50 is that very same tractor after the name change and the dropping of the seprate Fergie line.

As far as I can tell the 50, is kinda like a delux 35. Same motor, and trans, but a bit beefer. Stronger front axle, and a few other stuff. Same motor though. Thats about all I know.

OK. Now what can I NOT do wioth this tractor?
I mean Is this somithing I would have a problem using say a tiller, posthole digger, heck eaven a 3point back hoe, what are my limitations? Anything I should be aware of?

You will be able to use the above mentioned tools with the 50. Massey had one of ther strongest hrydrlic pumps for years. The loader on my 52 Mustang can lift loads that my BIL's IH 300 utilty won't.

Well the CFO kinda nix'ed this idea. Have not given up hope, but it will take some "stewing time" on her part. Just hope it sits unsold for a wile.

Hey,
A US built MF 50/150 is equal to a UK MF 35/135. Strong front axle, and a few other things! Grab it while you can!!
Keep us posted

Great old tractor. It has the Z134 Cont. Motor as I recall. Same used in the MF 35. Like the one fellow said it is a Ferguson 40 with different paint and grille, other wise same tractor. Very reliable tractor. Looks like you found a nice one.

Smart Famer, there was MHF 50 made in the early 50's and by the time the 60's came I believe it was 150 by then. The early MHF 50's were gas only and sold under the Massey Harris Ferguson label. By 1956-57 the name was changed to Massey Ferguson. The diesel came Later I think.

Alright, the 50 was built as a Harris through 56' and Ferguson from 57' to 64'. Yours ( if you can talk her into it ) is, I believe, a MF50. The farmers around here rave about these tractors. "They are tougher than barb-wire, and at just over 40hp ( gas burner ), they will do some serious work". Just dont try to bury a 3-bottom 14" moldboard plow. it will cry uncle.
My dad bought one a while back. He rebuilt the engine and freshend up the rear end ( seals etc... ) He did say that his 6ft box blade, with a full load of dirt, makes the engine work harder than he likes, however, that's comparing it to his 3020 with an 8ft box blade.

Paul you wouldn't want to run a backhoe off the internal pump. They max out around 4.5 gpm. If it does not have powersteering it will be a bear to steer with that loader most guys have a front mounted hydraulic pump if it is a MF loader the hydraulic reservoir is in the loader frame. The MH or MHF or MF 50 has a decent strong front end for loader work. If the CFO gives the green light you would want to have checked out Big Dean's Website He's the MF Guru over at the YT site and lurks on the Ferguson and MF forums. here is his website and good luck

Thanks MF135, and welcome to the board.
Well not looking good for getting it. Unless a bag of cash falls into my lap I am pretty much done. Too bad also. Its a real sweet tractor, and looks like it will do all I need to do. Well lot's of tractors out there, and maybe a nice newer tractor, that happands to be your name sake, comes up one of these days.
I am guessing you have a 135? Jump in and tell us a little about it. GREAT tractors!!

Hi Guys..nice place ya got here! Paul maybe it just wasn't mean't to be. Theres lots of good machinery out there. Maybe even a nice yellow industrial tractor! I started with a 20-85 Ferguson and a MF99 loader with a aux. pump. Then got a MF204 loader tractor and put in 3point and pto. Sold the Ferguson. Life was good.
Then I found the 135 she's an Orchard Special diesel was it ever tough! had broken connecting rod head was off injection system apart rotted rims hardly any tin that wasn't rotted or bent up. You have to wonder why people let things go bad for so long! The engine is like new now, new rims and rubber on back 16.9x24's Slowly trying to get all the parts together before assembly. After that it will get a nice coat of red and silver. If any one knows of a complete MF auxiliary hydraulic setup (pump, side cover, control valve etc)for it please let me know(165 or 175 works fine) a complete rear axle assembly from a 245,255,265,275 with factory aux hydraulics would work nicely also. :7)
I also have a MF40 Industrial TLB Diesel (same as 135) This replaced the 204 which went down the road.
