Re: How do you deal with Poison Ivy?
as a warning, if you cut it down DON'T BURN IT! the oils that cause the rash travel in the smoke and then you get the rash in your throat and lungs.
i spray PI and PO with RU, 3 oz to a gallon will kill all but the hardiest vines. those i chop off about a foot off the ground, then saturate them in RU. also do not waste your money on the RU "Poison Ivy" bottle, but generic 41% and be done with it.
if you are allergic, wear a mask, long sleeves/pants and gloves. when done be very careful while removing these and immediately wash them. or go buy one of those cheap paper coverall suits at Lowe's Depot and just rip it off and toss in the trash. then get a good cool shower and scrub down just in case there was incidental contact.
the stuff does not bother me, but my wife and one daughter are highly allergic. there is actually a patch just starting out by the horse pasture that i have walked thru numerous times thusfar this year. i've got to kill it off, but it is at the far gate and usually i run out of RU before i get there and i keep forgetting about it until time to feed the horse!
