I'm a Cub Cadet guy and my 3 choices are CC.But I did check other brands but the steering wheel and my great luck with the higher end cubs brings me to these three.
I have never owned a zero turn but hopefully I can get some input on these models.I mow 5 acres with some hills.
The tanks are out of production But I called around and fond some new ones out of state.
I have got the prices as low as I can so far.
The new series Pro z160 for $7200
Tank s60 $8000
Tank sz60 $9700
may I suggest u get away from the CC zero turns.. the JD units last a lot longer & r easier to work on.. our CC dealer sent his back to where they came from last year..
My dealer let me use a tank last summer for a weekend greatest mowing experience i have had.John Deere is about the only brand I did not and will not consider!
The 3 models I mentioned are the only ones I'm interested in.
Getting way of subject? Dixie likes Cub Cadets and the tank I used as you can see.Buddy he maybe a John Deere guy.Look close you can see him getting out of dodge ?
☺☺☺ I would like to add If it's not a zero turn thats ok.it did everything "I"wanted it to do.It went around small trees large trees buildings and flower beds.I didn't have to do the dance, I do with my beloved garden tractors.☺
I have a hill side that I mow the wrong way of the recommended way.. I use a Scotts 2048 mower.. it's made by JD the same as a L120.. only different colors.... this mower I added weights to it in the proper places to lower the center of gravity.. with it I no longer have to ride side saddle or just half on the seat.. I don't need ROPS on this machine.. the JD L120 is an oversized LT tractor.. it does have 12 inch rears but on 'slide on the axle' rims.. it will also mow fast & give a great cut..
I'm keeping my gt3235,2284 super and 1882 super.sold my 1872 super last week and have the 2165 listed and my new last year DR Tow Finish mower up for sale.
Just did some of this looking around at "Z"'s and looked at Cub Cadet and Toro. I wanted a steering wheel also, my budget is a little lower, but I really like the Pro Z Cubs and the Pro 500 S series is really nice, but out of price range. The reason I am adding this is the unit that is sz60 is not the far from that pricing. Best of luck and hope this is more on track with the question that was asked. I am probably going with the Toro. Great choice you have made.
My vote would be the Pro Z160. Or wait for the Pro Z 500,700, to 900. It looks to me like they are stepping up to play in the commercial markets with these machines.
Now, let's talk about steering wheel zero turns. I have long said that if John Deere had developed the zero turn steering wheel they would far outsell the stick mowers. It won't surprise me that when cub starts to gain traction in the commercial market, John Deere will bring out a machine like the zero turn steering wheel. Anyone notice Toro has entered on some of their consumer machines? My acreage has 3 acres that I finish mow with lots of trees. I had a fair amount of " turfing" with my stick zero turn. The steering wheel machine has all but eliminated that. I have a friend with a John Deere 997. Nice machine and 3x the price of my Cub. He is very fussy about how straight he mows. He talks about the challenges of doing that with the stick machines. I just hold the steering wheel straight and cut a straight pass. My wife mows with it, as well as my 10'year old once in a while. Not hard to get the hang of. I doubt my buddy is going to put his 11 year old on that 997 for a while.
Now, let's talk about engines. Mine has a Kohler Command Pro. When it was new, it ticked. Dealer said it was valves, others have said it is lifters. Every so often it still does it. Nobody seems too worried. My previous mower had a Kawi. Never had any trouble with that engine. My point is this-I think engine mgrs make good and bad engines. Can anyone say Kohler Courage? I think Cub is picking higher end engines from both Kohler and Kawi in these new mowers, so would feel confident in either.
I mow my ditch bank. I acquired a John Deere X748 2 falls ago. I intended it to be my fall leaf clean up machine for pulling a cyclone rake. I also thought it could be my ditch bank mower because of the 4x4. The Cub has a lower center of gravity. I have tried the John Deere multiple times and I have always found it better to do with the Cub. It amazes me how it hugs the ditch bank and climbs back out of the ditch.
Last spring I took my mower back to my dealer for a look over and to get it ready for mowing season. He told me they lubed some linkages, made some adjustments and looked everything over and she was ready to go. This was the first time I had taken it back since new. I wouldn't say I thought there was anything wrong with it before they looked at it. I really felt like they brought it back to new. I can't pinpoint it exactly, but it really worked well last summer. My dealer is my hometown dealer, not my local. They sell over 200 new units per year and you can tell. When you get within 10 miles of their dealership, it seems like every place you pass by is running Cub. This is farm country in Iowa. John Deere's strength has a lot to do with their parts and service. They break and the local dealer can have you up and running the next day because they can get parts quickly. Pick a solid dealership that knows what they are doing.
Great this helps!??
What part of Iowa?I'm in NE corner.
I have 2 cub dealers close to me.both about 20 min away. The one I don't do much business with has a used 2012 zforce s60 I was considering it has 190 hrs How many hours on yours?
I have narrowed my choices The Tank s60 or the Pro Z 160 with kawasaki or Kolher.
Very helpful post.Thank you
I'm pretty sure I'm going to get the Tank.its out of state but they have worked with me.Sent text to my dealer what they can do if I order a pro z 500.
But I have talked with a really good dealer a couple times.Thats maybe in your area.Algona .I called them a couple times .they are very knowledgeable and willing to answer my question even though they know I'm not buying from them. The question i asked was what model would you buy.tank or pro z100.finally I got a straight answer, it may have helped they didn't have a horse in the race? The pro z series is impressive and so is the pro z 100.But the tank has the edge.?The pro z500 is more in its class.the Pro z700 and pro z900 are way out of my pay grade.:tango_face_surprise

Yes, that is my dealer. My guess would be that they felt the tank would best fit your needs and your price range. Glad you were able to find the machine that will be right for you. Hope you are happy with your purchase for many years to come.

My dealer sent me a email with a very good deal on the pro z500.That's my 1st pick but is outside my budget. Maybe if I can get my DR Finish Tow mower sold soon. They came down a lot more % wise with the pro z500 than they did with the pro z100.If they come down close to the same % on the pro z100 is back in the running. The tank is still in 1st place?
Here is a picture.Have the lights ordered not sure when I'll get it home. They are delivering so if the lights comes in and it fits in the in closed trailer maybe next week?Has 1 hour on it
I have considered that? But with the head also moving a lot of carbonation used up ?
