Re: Tractor cart tire and wheel options
While I was fetching the tractor and tiller today, Timmymacnj connected with a guy I had missed and picked up some tires on wheels for me today. Unfortunately, they do not have bearing hubs. One pair, however, looks like it is off of a RER and has a 3-bolt circle. I might consider making my own hubs with bushings or perhaps even ball bearings that will slide onto the existing axle and allow me to bolt the tires on.
Shouldn't be too bad - a length of 1-1/2" CRS, faced off and bored large enough to accept a pair of flanged bronze bushings with 3/4" ID and with a grease Zerk for lubrication. Weld onto that a piece of 1/2" plate that has been bored to lightly press over the OD of the hub and with a set of holes tapped for lug bolts, spaced 120° apart and at the proper bolt circle to match the rims.
Hardest part will probably be rounding up all the material and getting the plate welded on without too much of a wobble.
