any ideas? I think I'd like to make one this summer

How much weight do you intend on hanging from the end of the pole? The axles have a max static load rating which will limit the weight applied.

I assumed that it was a typo. 'Y' is right beside 'T' on the keyboard.

Two thirds of the letter keys on my keyboard have the labels worn at least 75%, and 3 of those are blank. Only 4 keys have the full letter indicated. I make lots of typos and have to proofread everything several times, and I still don't catch them all!

Those look easy to fab, and handy to have.

I think the hitch in the second pic maybe homemade. The Guy that own's this Pole lift installs Boat Moters with it.

I had this idea using the harbor freight truck bed crane on my GT5000 with Kohler 25hp engine model 276010. It can lift 1/2 ton, but Id never use it for that much weight at once. I planned on lifting/winching logs into my dump cart or lifting swinging and/or dragging them across the yard. I built a little sleeve hitch to ball adapter out of 1/4" and could build a sleeve hitch platform to mount the crane with a 5/8" hole for the trailer. I know theres no way that thing would be able to handle the full 1/2 ton but one log at a time should be no problem. Harbor freight has them with a hand crank winch for $130 and a shorty without the winch for $80. Im just a little worried about the side to side and tipping the tractor over, but if I have to add outriggers to load a log from the side it might not be worth it and Ill just keep loading by hand.

I know you want a boom made for use with a sleeve hitch. My boom is for a 3 point, but something similar could be made for a sleeve hitch.
I built my boom setup using the Harbor Freight truck crane. it's designed to be used on a 3 point hitch. I added crazy wheels to take the load off the 3 point arms. I rigged up a "stinger" for picking up a tractor using it's rear hitch plate.
I haven't picked up anything real heavy, but the hoist works really well. It will swing side to side past 90 degrees but I caution that trying to pull anything at that angle could be dangerous and result in tipping the tractor.
Here are some pictures of my rig.

I dig it, the wheels are a nice touch. When you detach your attachment are the wheels and crane a one piece setup? Is that your rescue rig? Do you have to tow other tractor often? After I posted earlier I was disking trying to even out the lot and prep for planting and I got stuck in a mud hole. My tank has a hole and all my gas drained out and now its really stuck. I need you to come by and pull me out.

Mostly, I use the rig to lift things, but the stinger works great to tow "dead soldiers". Over the past few years, I have accumulated quite a few non-runners so I needed something to move them with.
The wheels are permanently mounted on the boom assembly. They swivel 360 degrees and "float" with the 3 point. I made a 3rd wheel attachment that I install when the boom is off the tractor. It makes the unit a "tri-cycle" which is easy to roll around and store.
