Re: Yanmar fx24d
Welcome to MTF smorris!
I pulled this info from our Yanmar Gray Market Forum:
FX24D-28 Engine HP = 4WD, Transmission- Powershift -3 cylinder (Engine I.D.3TN684U-A), weight 2620# - Years built 84- ?.
I've had one only in my shop and that was to extend the loader control at an angle for the operator/owner. I do have a friend that has had the FX24D for about 3 years now. Never a complaint as the tractor has performed flawlessly.
The lever left of the PTO is most probably the "UFO" control. You may have an electronic box on the fender that also operates in conjnction with the lever. The system is designed to automtically adjust the tiller height allowing the operator 'hands free' once the height is set.
The Powershift transmission was introduced early on the YM10/20 and (F) "X" models for Japan's Rental industry, absolutely bullet proof. I've heard from many others their powershift transmissions are still trouble free even after their first (and second) major engine overhaul (I would guess at or around 6K - 10,000 hours). The engine and that transmission are ideal for FEL work with the ability to shift "On The Fly".
The tractor should have JD303 or equil. Trans-Hydraulic fluid, available almost anywhere. It's not uncommon to see these tractors imported here, with the PINK trans-hyd. fluid. I believe Tractor Ernie, a dealer on the west coast uses transmission fluid in his tractors...and he's a pretty fair sized importer with many F and FX models. He's also very familiar with the UFO controls and the proper way to set them up if you decide to use that feature.
