Cool Tractor show

This was the weekend of our local annual antique tractor show, and despite the lousy weather, we had a good turn-out, about 80-90 tractors, biggest yet (about 75 the last couple of years), and seems to be growing pretty much every year. I took pictures of some of the more unique tractors, though I know I did miss a few interesting one too.

I know Bear will love these first couple of pics! A late '20s early '30s Cat10.

There was also a 1930 Cat 20, here it is in the pull today.

The guy who had the Cat 20 also brought a 1939 "Motor Patrol 10" road grader. It had a Cat diesel engine.

A neighbor spent his spare time this spring fixing up this "Twin Power Cub". He still was making some final adjustments before he hooked to the drag this morning.

Harold also brought his IH "shop mule", a warehouse tractor built for hauling heavy carts in tight places. They were also a common sight at airports and on aircraft carriers. This one is a U4 model, meaning it has the same engine as a Farmall H or McCormick W4.

There was a 1953 super MD (M diesel), the kind discussed in another thread that starts on gas and runs on diesel.

A shot of the injector pump (IH built).

And of the distributer and Carburater on the other side of the engine. (Not often you see an injector pump and carburater on the same tractor!)

We don't have weight transfer sled for our pull, so didn't have enough weight to stop the biggest of the tractor pulling. It came down to a show down between the 3 heaviest tractors there. These 2 were the heaviest of all in the final "shoot-out". (Personally, I stood well back to avoid flying chain links from this stunt!)

There were many other fine machines in the show, but I only picked this small sampling to post. Hope many more folks can make the show next year, or shows in your area. If you've never been, make time this year to go to a local tractor show, you'll be glad you did!!

Great pics partsman! I really like the '53 Super MD.

PS I do kind of miss your old avatar. Sometimes it looked like parts on a shelf and other times it looked like snakes in a wood and chicken wire cage.

We have the same type of deal here. Local fair uses a boat on concrete. you have three attempts to yank it six feet. I am going to try my hand at it this fall for the first time. I'm gonna pull with my JD B. I love watching any kind of tractor pull!

I'd be more impressed if you did it with the machine in your avatar!

Stumpy... I have a 44 "B" I can't think of the S/N right now, but I am going look the next time I am in the shop. Mine has the big flywheel.

Do you know your S/N?

BTW, I pulled mine once and it was a disaster. Not enough power for my weight class. An "H" Farmall killed me! I had the same problem with my "R" diesel. Too heavy for the HP.

Parts,
Thanks for posting the great pictures!

John, for the pull we have a steel drag that we put concrete weights in, and a 200 foot track for pulling with a line every 25FT. 2guys hop on every 25 Ft. We just didn't have enough weight to stop the JD R and 830, or the super MD, so they decided to go into a head to head show down. Personally, I would not do that with that much HP on a chain without a steel cage between me and the chain,, a great way to lose your head!!

Mow,, I added the old avatar to my sig line just for you.

BTW, my new avatar is me on our H in this years parade.
