Regarding just the loader vs. back blade. There's a lot of variables for you to answer to get the right tool--but the FEL with a lighter weight tractor gives more option to use momentum to push and "slam".

Have used a JD "M" with FEL and 7' blade with angling (think p/u truck blade) for 30 years and would never had the versatility with a back blade. This winter, for the first time, I have a back blade on a 5000 plus pound tractor and it's great for the lighter snowfalls, but with a heavy 10" snow and drifting, I'd have to spin the blade 180 degrees and push backwards to get the snow cleared. I could drive through it forward without a problem because it's a bigger tractor, but it wouldn't efficiently clear snow away.

It doesn't take a whole lot of resistance to send a tractor sideways with a big snow blade angled (with either a front or back blade).

In closing, I've pushed some serious blizzard snows with the little JD "M" with tire chains, ballast and a FEL with front blade; leave the blade straight and angle the tractor approach and slam and retreat, and slam and lift and...repeat.

Swivelling your head like an owl to use a back blade wears thin real fast, especially if you have any amount of plowing to do. That feeling gets even worse when you know you could have done it with a FEL. Back blades are useful for a lot of things, but in my opinion, plowing snow is not one of them.
